FA Cup Champions Manchester United have hired Phil Lynch as their new Chief Executive of Media.

Lynch formerly worked for Sony Digital at senior executive level, with his most recent role coming as Global Head/ Vice President of Content and Media Partnerships for global technology company Yahoo.

Lynch will oversee the entire digital media strategy for the Red Devils, which will include the rollout of the recently launched MUTV app in 165 countries. He will also manage the creation and editorial direction of the club’s print media, as well as handling media partnerships and direct-to-consumer products.

During his time with Yahoo, Lynch ran more than 3500 content partnerships and agreed major broadcast deals with sports bodies.

“Phil’s appointment is an important step in the evolution of our digital strategy,” said United’s group managing director Richard Arnold. “He has a wealth of experience at Yahoo and Sony Digital that will add real value and insight to our thinking.”
