Manchester City Ladies Makes Bold Step for WSL With Lloyd Signing

February 16, 2017

Manchester City Ladies have continued their development with the acquisition of Carli Lloyd. The English league champions have signed the American on a short-team deal.

The 232-times-capped USA international, 34, has won the World Cup and Olympic Games and is currently the reigning World Player of the Year.

Her move to England’s primary footballing competition represents a major step forward for both the City Football Group, and the WSL as a whole.

Lloyd’s move to City is the latest high-profile American entry to the English Women’s Super League in recent months, following Crystal Dunn and Heather O’Reilly. The American will join City for the 2017 Spring Series.

Lloyd said of the WSL, ”It is definitely the next up-and-coming league”.
