Imperial Joins Toronto 2015 as Sponsor

August 27, 2014

Toronto 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games have appointed Imperial as its Official Fuel and Convenience Store Supplier.

The TORONTO 2015 Games marks the first time Imperial has directly sponsored an international multi-sport Games in Canada. Imperial has had a longstanding association with amateur hockey development in Canada, including supporting the debut of women’s hockey at the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games.

In 2001, the company also sponsored the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Edmonton. With one of the largest fuel and retail networks in Canada — and approximately 1,750 Esso-branded service stations across the country — the company will help fuel the TORONTO 2015 Games’ fleet of Chevrolet vehicles, as well as buses and generators.

“Imperial is proud to fuel the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games, the largest international multi-sport Games Toronto has ever hosted,” said Andrew Mackay, retail manager, Imperial. “We look forward to helping bring the excitement of these Games and the accomplishments of all participating athletes to Canadians in communities from coast to coast.”

Saäd Rafi, chief executive officer of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee (TO2015), added: “We’re pleased to welcome Imperial to the TORONTO 2015 Games family. Imperial and its local Esso retail stations are well-known for supporting amateur sport at the grassroots level in communities across Canada. They have deep roots in Ontario and it’s wonderful they’re supporting a Games where they started out more than a century ago.”
