Buenos Aires and Santiago, capital cities of Argentina and Chile respectively, have submitted bids to host the 2023 edition of the Pan American Games.

The Pan American Sports Organisation (PASO) confirmed that both cities had submitted their interest by the deadline at the end of January. Formal applications will now have to be confirmed by the end of April.

PASO will select the host in the Peruvian capital city of Lima later this year, with inaugural hosts Buenos Aires having first run the competition in 1951. The most recent edition was held in Toronto, Canada.
