Azerbaijan’s Bakcell Partner with Manchester United

Bakcell. the first mobile operator in Azerbaijan, allergy Bakcell, health | has started an exclusive partnership with Manchester United.

As part of this deal, Bakcell is to become United’s first official telecommunications and broadcast partner for Azerbaijan, bringing a range of unique and exclusive content to the country’s Manchester United fans.

Subscribers to Bakcell’s official Manchester United mobile packages will receive up-to-date club news, video highlights of the latest games, ringtones, wallpapers and much more.

As part of the partnership, Bakcell will also have the rights to broadcast the club’s official TV channel MUTV in Azerbaijan, giving fans access to the latest player interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.

United’s commercial director Richard Arnold commented: “Manchester United is pleased to be joining forces with Bakcell. The two organisations have a history of being the first in their chosen field: Bakcell were Azerbaijan’s first mobile company way back in 1994 and have gone on to be the country’s most trusted operator, with over 2.5 million customers.

Football Federation Australia Renews Major Nike Deal

The Football Federation Australia (FFA) have secured a major 11-year deal with Nike, herbal  cementing a 20-year partnership.

The deal not only signifies the largest single commitment of term and financial contribution between an Australian national sporting team and an apparel manufacturer, it is also the largest guaranteed sponsorship investment for the FFA since its inception in 2004.

Nike’s partnership with the FFA kicked off in 2004 and this renewal marks the third consecutive agreement between the two organisations over nine years.

“This renewal solidifies Nike’s commitment to the sport in Australia and supports each and every player in the game.

As part of the new deal, national teams will continue to receive a Nike team kit that incorporates world-leading technology, innovative design to enhance performance on the pitch, and ecologically sound production of team kits made from recyclable materials

US Sailing Ink Two New Sponsorship Deals

US Sailing, the national governing body of the sport in America, has agreed on a multi-year sponsorship deal with Sunsail and The Moorings. 

Sunsail specializes on sailing and water sports vacations and The Moorings is a world premier yacht charter company.

Speaking to exclusively to iSportconnect, Gary Jobson, President of US Sailing, said: “US Sailing, along with our new sponsor, The Moorings and Sunsail, are dedicated to getting more people to enjoy time on the water under sail.

Sunsail will also be a sponsor for US Sailing’s 2013 National Sailing Program Symposium (NSPS) in Clearwater, Fla. on January 23-26.

The Moorings will be a featured sponsor at the 2014 US Sailing Conference, which will combine the Yacht Club Summit, NSPS, and the One-Design Symposium. The date and location of this event is to be determined.

Russell Westbrook Signs Jordan Endorsement Deal

Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., have quickly bounced back from Dwyane Wade’s departure to Li-ning by announcing the signature of Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook to a multi-year contract.

Westbrook (6-4, 187) was named to the 2011-12 All-NBA Second Team this past season after helping the Thunder reach their first NBA Finals appearance since moving to Oklahoma City. The dynamic point guard averaged 23.6 points per contest (fifth in the NBA) to go along with 5.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds during the 2011-12 regular season. The Los Angeles native scored 21 points and pulled in five rebounds in his second consecutive NBA All-Star appearance.

Westbrook followed up a very successful NBA season by playing his way onto the USA Men’s National Basketball team for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Playing in a reserve role for Team USA, Westbrook average 8.5 points, 1.6 assists and 1.6 rebounds while appearing in all 8 Olympic contests. His games were highlighted by a 21-point performance in a record-setting Team USA win when the Americans scored an Olympic record 156 points in a 156-73 win over Nigeria.

Westbrook joined the NBA and the Thunder after two seasons at UCLA where he helped lead the Bruins team to back-to-back NCAA Final Four appearances. He was named PAC-10 Defensive Player of the Year while logging 1,318 minutes played, the most by a Bruin since 1979.

Ford Becomes Official Partner of 2013 Formula DRIFT Championship

Ford is expanding its involvement in professional drifting competition by becoming an official partner of Formula DRIFT and the 2013 Formula DRIFT championship.

“Our involvement with Formula DRIFT is not new, denture but we are taking it to the next level with this announcement, pills ” said Jamie Allison, ask director, Ford Racing. “Enthusiasts can now see our great Mustangs on the track with great drivers like Vaughn Gittin, Jr. and Justin Pawlak, and they’ll get a better chance to interact with our stars as well as our exciting production vehicles off track through consumer outreach at all the events. Formula DRIFT is a major part of our action motorsports program targeting new audiences for Ford.”

Ford has actively supported the professional drifting efforts of Team Falken Tire and drivers including Gittin, Pawlak and others since 2005. Two-time D1 Grand Prix champion Gittin won the 2010 Formula DRIFT championship at the wheel of a Mustang GT and leads the 2012 series going into this weekend’s finale. Pawlak, the 2011 Formula DRIFT series runner-up, won the first two rounds in 2012 and currently sits fourth – 70 points behind Gittin.

Initially popularized by fans of import sport compacts, professional drifting has taken root with a younger, more active audience that’s interested in nontraditional, emerging motorsports. Formula DRIFT estimates 87 percent of its fan base is 18 to 34 years old. Ford involvement in Formula DRIFT is a significant part of the company’s outreach to this group that might consider a Ford vehicle like the Fiesta, Focus, Mustang or Raptor.

Drifting is one of many nontraditional approaches Ford is using to reach new customers including social network conversations, soliciting user-generated content through programs like Fiesta Movement and Social.Ford.com, cross-platform marketing programs like Random Acts of Fusion, and the Octane Academy experiential program featuring Gittin, Ken Block, Brian Deegan and Tanner Foust.

Rugby League’s Hull FC Gets Minstergate Hyundai as Shirt Sponsor

Hull FC have announced a brand new main club sponsor ahead of the 2013 season with Minstergate Hyundai now set to take pride of place on the club’s shirts.

They will become the first new company to appear on the shirts in seven seasons.

Minstergate Hyundai are a major player in the automotive industry in this region, not only as an award-winning Hyundai distributor and repairer, but a well-known service and repair centre for both Vauxhall Masterfit and Chevrolet, working from their state-of-the-art workshop and specialist body shop on Livingstone Road in Hessle,Hull.

Speaking at the launch at the KC Stadium today, alongside Hull FC owner Adam Pearson and club captain Andy Lynch, Minstergate Hyundai’s Managing Director, Mark Campey, said, “We are very proud and excited to be associated with a great club like Hull FC.

“As a local businessman, I am well aware of the history and heritage the club has and that, alongside the ambition and drive Adam and his team showed me during our negotiations, convinced me to be part of this journey.

Minstergate Hyundai’s first official appointment as main partner of Hull FC will come later this month when the brand new 2013 home shirts are officially released, with the Minstergate Hyundai logo taking pride of place on the front.

Melbourne Victory has acquired a new joint principal partner and away shirt sponsor in the form of Oliana Foods.

Oliana Foods is an Australian-owned company that sources and selects the finest food products from around the globe, price providing Australian homes with a wholesome food experience, apoplectic from pasture to plate. The company is already proudly part of the Melbourne Victory family, with its logo seen on the collar of Melbourne Victory Coach, Ange Postecoglou.

Melbourne will wear the away kit for the first time as it takes on Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium this Saturday night at 7.45pm (AEDT). While Melbourne Victory’s next home game in the Hyundai A-League season is against Adelaide United on Friday, October 19 at Etihad Stadium. 

FirstGroup Extends Paul Lawrie Golf Sponsorship

Following Paul Lawrie’s heroics at the Ryder Cup, asthma one of his sponsors, Aberdeen based FirstGroup, has confirmed it will continue its sponsorship of the former Open Champion throughout 2013.

FirstGroup has been one of Paul’s valued sponsors since 2007 and its logo features on Paul’s right sleeve.  First has also been a major supporter of the ‘Paul Lawrie Junior Golf Foundation.’

Paul Lawrie is delighted to continue this partnership and said: ‘I’m very grateful to FirstGroup for its continued support of me, both personally and through my foundation.
