BT Acquires Naming Rights to Murrayfield Stadium

Scottish rugby has secured a major long-term multi-million pound deal with global communications and broadcasting giant BT.

The four-year partnership, order ed | unveiled at the home of Scottish Rugby this afternoon, sees BT gain naming rights to Murrayfield Stadium, which will be known as the BT Murrayfield Stadium.

The deal will also include the British company becoming a sponsor of the Scotland 7s side from the outset of the 2014-15 HSBC Sevens World Series while also backing Scotland’s domestic league and cup competitions from next season.

“This is a momentous day for Scottish Rugby,” declared the union’s chief executive Mark Dodson. “We are very proud to bring BT back into our family of sponsors on a size and scale that is unprecedented both for Scottish Rugby and, we believe, Scottish sport.

“While the headlines may be dominated by the naming rights of the stadium, today’s announcement underlines BT’s alignment to our own values and goals, particularly that rugby clubs are the heart and soul of their communities that offer a welcome to all, young and old, boys and girls, men and women.

“This new funding underlines our desire to deliver more opportunities for young people to take up our game and broaden the reach of rugby across Scotland.”

POSI+IV to Sponsor Chestertons Polo in the Park

Polo event Chestertons Polo in the Park at the Hurlingham has signed energy drink maker POSI+IV as a new sponsor.

The deal, brokered by Aurum PMG, will see POSI+IV designated Official Energy Drink Partner to the event.

Now in its sixth year, Chestertons Polo in the Park has become one of the largest polo tournaments in Europe and is the only major polo event in Central London. Twice winner of ‘Best Sports Attraction’ at the London Lifestyle Awards it boasts and average annual attendance of more than 29,000 spectators, with more than 3,100 corporate hospitality attendees and over 50,000 social media followers.

Schweppes Joins Australian Open as Official Supplier

Schweppes Australia has become an official supplier of the Emirates Australian Open in a new multi-year deal.

will join the Emirates Australian Open sponsor family as an official supplier in a multi-year deal it has been announced. 

The sponsorship underlines Schweppes’ commitment to golf, sitting alongside its 22 year association with past Open champion Craig Parry and partnerships with the Australian Masters and the Perth International and countless local events.

Schweppes was also the supplier for the 2011 Presidents Cup held in Melbourne.

McDonald’s Joins NFL Now as Presenting Sponsor

The National Football League (NFL) have revealed McDonald’s as the third presenting sponsor of NFL Now, the League’s new digital video service providing fans with the NFL news, analysis and highlights they want across their Internet-connected devices.

The NFL also announced new distribution partnerships with Amazon Fire TV & Kindle Fire and the Roku streaming platform for NFL Now, which is scheduled to launch in August before the start of the 2014 NFL season. 

McDonald’s joins previous announced NFL Now launch sponsors Verizon and Gillette. Amazon and Roku join previously announced NFL Now distribution partners Verizon, Microsoft, and Yahoo.

Available across Internet-connected devices, NFL Now will be personalized for each fan’s interests, allowing them to follow the NFL how they want, where they want, when they want.

Phil Parsons Racing Partners with iRacing

Phil Parsons Racing has formed another internet-based partnership with the world’s premier motorsports racing simulation, iRacing.

From May 27, 2014 through June 30, 2014, both new and current iRacing subscribers will have the opportunity to support Wise and Phil Parsons Racing through select purchases on the online racing simulation site.

Scotiabank Signs Long-Term Deal to Sponsor Rogers Coverage of NHL

Rogers and Scotiabank today announced a six-year NHL sponsorship agreement.

Through the deal they will engage with consumers through grassroots initiatives, storytelling, and innovation while delivering significant multiplatform brand exposure across Rogers’s suite of media assets. The long-term agreement, which begins with the 2014-15 season and runs through 2019-20, will be a significant cornerstone in bringing the best hockey experience to Canadians.

This marks the first NHL sponsorship agreement since Rogers Communications secured a 12-year deal with the NHL in November 2013 for exclusive national broadcast and multimedia rights in Canada, beginning with the 2014-15 season.

Timex Announces Two New Ambassadors

Outdoor and sports watch maker Timex has announced today that elite American runners Josh Cox and Desi (Davila) Linden will join the brand’s roster of athlete ambassadors.

Cox, the U.S. 50K record holder and Linden, a 2012 US Olympian, will be integrated into the brand’s advertising, PR and social media programs, and product development and testing.

Skoda to Sponsor UCI’s Team Raleigh

ŠKODA UK has announced a two-year partnership, discount which will see the manufacturer become the Official Partner of the UCI continental level cycling squad, cure Team Raleigh.

ŠKODA UK will resume its Official Partner status to pro cycling team, Team Raleigh, following a year-long break. The partnership will see the team receive full use of three Octavia Estate support vehicles as riders compete in major cycling races throughout the UK and Europe during 2014.

The Team Raleigh 2014 squad includes Premier Calendar winner, Evan Oliphant, Rutland-Melton Classic winner, Alexandre Blain, and under-23 Manx rider, Mark Christian. Ironman World Champion Mirinda Carfrae Signs New Balance Endorsement Deal

Run shoe and apparel specialist New Balance has confirmed the signing of its latest Team New Balance triathlete, arthritis reigning Ironman World Champion and Kona record holder Mirinda Carfrae.

Carfrae joins reigning Ironman 70.3 World Champion Sebastian Kienle and reigning ITU World Champion Non Stanford, health who also wear New Balance.

Marking a move away from K-Swiss, buy sale with whom Carfrae has been sponsored for a number of years, this latest agreement adds to sponsorship deals for the Ironman World Champ recently confirmed with nutrition brand Bonk Breaker and wetsuit specialist TYR.

“Mirinda’s passion, personality and talent make her a wonderful addition to the Team New Balance roster,” said John Evans, Running Sports Marketing General Manager at New Balance. “Not only is she a two-time Ironman World Champion, but she’s also one of the fastest runners in the history of the sport.
