Rangers Post Annual Loss for Financial Year

Scottish Championship club Rangers have announced an annual loss of £7.5 million for the year ending 30 June.

During that period the club’s turnover fell to £16.5m from £17.6m.

The UK’s First Sports Hackathon Launches with £10,000 Bursary on Offer

Twenty-four hours is all that separates the nation’s brightest mobile developers and hackers from possibly delivering the sports equivalent of Facebook or Snapchat and getting a new generation playing sport.

The Sport England Sport Technology Awards Hackathon, ed which takes place over 25 hours on 2 – 3 October 2015, try will challenge coders from all walks of life to create an app that facilitates social change through sport.

Teams of up to six people, recipe including at least one woman, need to develop a concept that encourages a particular demographic group to be more physically active – the exact profile of the target market will be revealed to the teams on the day.

Teams will have 24 hours to determine their concept and an initial prototype, with the last hour of the Hackathon given over to concept presentation and judging.

From this, the best three ideas will be selected and the winning concept will be announced at The Sports Technology Awards in April 2016.

Sport England’s Director of Business Partnerships Tanya Joseph said ‘Sport and technology both have an amazing power to bring together people from different backgrounds. I am hoping that the combination of the two will have a real impact.

The Hackathon will use this generation’s tech gurus to create an app to benefit the next generation. We encourage anyone with any coding or app development skills to get involved and be a part of this exciting initiative.’

Rebecca Hopkins, CEO of The Sports Technology Awards, added ‘The Hackathon is an exciting move forward both for the awards and the sports tech sector.

Thanks to Sport England, we have been able to create an element of the awards that have real purpose and reflect the fact that we are at the heart of change within the sector.

The Hackathon is free to enter and is open to all UK residents over the age of 18. Applications to take part close at 5pm on 7 September 2015 with successful teams having their place on the Hackathon confirmed on 11 September 2016.

Italian Football Federation President Abete Quits After World Cup Exit

The President of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), apoplectic Giancarlo Abete, ambulance has stepped down from his post after his country were eliminated at the group stage of the Brazil 2014 World Cup on Wednesday.

Italy only needed a draw against Uruguay to qualify for the knock-out stages, for sale but were undone in a controversial 1-0 defeat.

The aftermath has seen Abete step down as President, after manager Cesare Prandelli also quit his post.

In an official statement, Abete said: ““I would like to announce my resignation.

“I do hope that at the forthcoming meeting of the board, they can persuade Cesare to reconsider his position. I had already made my decision before the World Cup.”

Abete, 63, was appointed President of FIGC in 2007, taking over from Guido Rossi.

He was re-elected in 2013 with a 94.34% majority vote, although he was the only runner for the post.

Jakarta Selected to Host BWF World Championships in 2015

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has selected the Indonesian capital of Jakarta to host the 2015 World Championships.

Jakarta was selected ahead of Kunshan in the Chinese province of Jiangsu, viagra sale with BWF President Poul-Erik Høyer making the announcement in Athens, no rx Greece.

Chinese city Dongguan (in Guangdong), received the nod for the BWF Sudirman Cup 2015 while the BWF World Senior Championships head to Helsingborg in Sweden.

Høyer told delegates from the candidate cities: “We have been impressed by the technically sound and competent bids which were presented earlier today. There is clearly significant experience among you in hosting events and in certain instances, specifically badminton events.”

Bambang (Rudy) Roedyanto, International Relations Manager for the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) commented: “We are grateful and we are going to make it one of the best World Championships. It is going to be even better than the Indonesia Open and everybody knows how exciting that is.”

Meanwhile, President of Badminton Sweden, Mats Tebben, said hosting the World Seniors could serve to further boost the “Increasing number of older persons playing badminton in Sweden.”

Vice Mayor of Dongguan, Yu Lijun said of their victory: “We are very happy. I look forward to seeing you all in Dongguan.”

Ryan Giggs Joins Wasserman

Manchester United player-coach Ryan Giggs has joined the Wasserman Media Group and will be represented by Rhodri Burgess.

Giggs joins Premier League rivals Jack Wilshere and Steven Gerrard as a Wasserman client, anabolics along with footballers from La Liga, prostate Serie A and the MLS.

Giggs said: “I’m excited to be joining Wasserman. They have an excellent client base and Rhodri’s reputation in the commercial marketplace is second to none.

“He has proven outstanding credentials and I’m looking forward to our future partnership.”

Since 1990 Giggs has won 13 Premier League titles, doctor the Champions League twice, the FA Cup four times and the League Cup a further four times.

New United manager David Moyes appointed Giggs as a player-coach to help make his mark on the team and it is his success on the pitch that has Wasserman excited.

Lord’s to be Redeveloped in Ten Year Plan

Lord’s Cricket Ground will undergo a £200m ($311m) redevelopment in 2014 that could take up to ten years to complete.

Owners Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) revealed the two-phase plan would start in 2014 and include rebuilding the Warner, Tavern, Compton and Edrich stands.

The first phase will cost approximately £90m ($140m) and will be completed by the 2019 World Cup, whilst the second phase will be completed by 2024.

Capacity at Lord’s will rise by 2,700 to 32,000.

“This Masterplan has cricket at its heart,” MCC president Mike Griffith said in a statement.

“Every MCC Member cares deeply for our wonderful ground, and we have a duty to ensure any changes made to Lord’s reflect the love we have for cricket, its history and its heritage.

“Lord’s is the home of cricket and this masterplan will reinforce the special place the ground has within the game by making it even better for every player and spectator who comes here. This is an incredibly exciting day not just for MCC, but for cricket lovers all over the world.”

The redevelopment plan will also include an extension to the famous pavilion, new entries and a new ‘food street’ within the ground.

The museum at the ground will also be enlarged.

National Events Manager – USA Diving

Overview:

USA Diving, impotent recognized by the USOC as the national governing body for Diving in the U.S., seeks a National Events Manager. The National Events Manager is charged to oversee all logistics and operations for USA Diving events and serve as primary resource for USA Diving membership in regard to event management for sanctioned events.

Key responsibilities include:

– Build yearly events calendar by determining dates and locations and working with contacts to establish Regional, Zone and National Championship sites and hosts.

– Serve on committee to select hosts for Zone and meets

– Draft National level event contracts and oversee revision and execution process.

– Collect agreement forms from Region and Zone hosts.

– Oversee, manage and update the budget for all USA Diving events.

– Act as the liaison to third party timing and scoring partners for event set-up, requirements and registration.

– Plan and oversee applicable ancillary events at National and International meets

– Schedule, plan and conduct championship meetings at all National events

– Work with the national judges’ coordinator on scheduling all necessary judges for meets

– Serve as primary contact for Meet Directors for 12 Region and 6 Zone Meets

  • – Prepare, distribute and collect meet information sheets to/from meet directors

  • – Send approximately three emails to meet directors over course of planning process containing pertinent documents and information; Send replacement divers e-mail to meet directors post event

  • – Ensure each meet director has medals

– Maintain and develop relationships with local/state government agencies as well as convention bureau representatives to ensure effective execution of USA Diving events.

Qualifications

  • – A bachelor’s degree in event or sports management or relatable degree

  • – 3-5 years planning, implementing and managing large scale events

  • – Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and manage a diving meet

  • – Excellent written and verbal communication skills including high level attention to detail, together with developed networking, negotiation and consultation skills.

  • – Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and communication skills across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • – Analytical and decision making skills – able to identify problems and develop solutions.

  • – High competency level of MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • – Demonstrated commitment, drive and initiative in identifying ideas and translating them into plans to achieve event and USA Diving organizational goals

  • – Demonstrated capacity for making evidence based decisions based on strong application of consultation with key stakeholders

Telenet Renews Premier League Rights Deal in Belgium

Belgian cable network Telenet has renewed its deal for the English Premier League broadcast rights in Belgium for a further three years.

With the channel’s current deal due to expire at the end of the 2015/16 season, it has agreed a renewal to run for three seasons from 2016/17 to 2018/19.

The Premier League is shown on Telenet’s Play Sports package, which shows on average five football matches each weekend.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
