IOC Appoint 3XA to Build New Headquarters

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has employed Danish architectural firm 3XA to develop their new headquarters in Lausanne, viagra Switzerland.

The new building is needed due to logistical, advice financial and environmental issues with the current headquarters which is located on the banks of Lake Geneva.

IOC President Thomas Bach confirmed the news after the IOC Executive Board Meeting at the SportAccord Convention in Belek, Turkey.

Bach praised 3XA for their great experience and awards they received for environmentally friendly architecture.

The IOC has had issues with their current base in the past, when in 2012 a burst water pipe caused damage to archives and communication systems.

3XA have designed buildings across Europe, including the Danish Embassy in Berlin, Germany and the Muziekgebouw Concert Hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Progress is at an early stage, with no location or cost estimate announced by the IOC.

2013 was an extremely important year for the sport business industry and for all of us at iSportconnect. Looking forward, ambulance 2014 looks set to be another landmark year for the industry and for our company.

iSportconnect digital

The iSportconnect news team continued to bring you the most up to date information available in 2013. During the 125th IOC Session, where Thomas Bach was elected as President, Tokyo was awarded the 2020 Games and Wrestling was reinstated into the Olympic programme, iSportconnect provided minute-by-minute updates of the events. Experts from across the industry lent their analysis and opinions of the Session to give you the most thorough coverage possible.

2014 will be a huge year for sport. The World Cup will kick off in Brazil, the latest Winter Olympic Games is around the corner in Sochi and Glasgow will host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. iSportconnect will continue to provide all the latest news and coverage of all the major events.

The online discussions on iSportconnect also continued to grow. Top professionals from the IOC and Premier League football clubs were amongst those to join in on our discussions. The debate about whether or not clubs should have payday loan companies as their shirt sponsor proved to be one of the most successful discussions to date.

The e-magazine section of iSportconnect also continued to grow in 2013. We launched a number of digital magazines throughout the year which enabled readers to heavily engage with the articles. The Road to 2020 Olympic Games special was published ahead of the 125th IOC Session in Buenos Aires, and two magazines dedicated to the Sportel Monaco event were full of videos and surveys. Led by Editor-At-Large Jay Stuart, expect to see more dedicated e-magazines in 2014.

Directors’ Club

In 2013 we staged our most successful Directors’ Club events to date, including a special event at The O2 in London, in conjunction with Euroleague Basketball. Delegates were treated to Euroleague’s Final Four event after the discussion round and networking in the famous London venue.

The year also brought the news that the Directors’ Club would be going global, starting with an event in Paris at the end of the year. In 2014 iSportconnect will be visiting Moscow in Russia before heading to the United States for a special Super Bowl Directors’ Club in New York.

Masterclass

The Masterclass event was also launched in 2013, with an evening of discussing the rules and stipulations around Financial Fair Play (FFP). CEOs and Financial Directors from football clubs gathered to hear presentations from Javed Khan, the Financial Director of the Premier League, Nick Craig, the Director of Legal Affairs for The Football League and Daniel Geey, Lawyer for Field Fisher Waterhouse and a specialist in advising clubs on financial regulations. Further Masterclasses will take place in 2014 with technology being the next focus. Stay tuned to iSportconnect for further details.

iSportconnect TV

We also created iSportconnect TV in 2013, the first ever online television channel for the sports business industry.  With BIG Interviews of top sports executives in the industry, a  Weekly Round Up chat show, the Digital Media Café and more special features, the launch of iSportconnect TV was a huge success. 2014 will see more content on the TV channel, including shows on sports law, marketing and sponsorship, as well as a Daily News Show.

Business solutions

In other areas of the business, the team launched a number of different business solutions, including Media Training with renowned journalist James Pearce. James works with a team of experts to deliver the highest quality media training available. Sessions are tailored to a client’s specific needs, with the focus on either broadcast media, social media or the written press.

Other business solutions including iSportconnect Translation was emerged in 2013, helping clubs and federations to make sense of contracts, proposals and legal agreements. Further business solutions will be launched in 2014.

IRB Junior World Championship 2013 to Reach Record Audience

The International Rugby Board’s (IRB) Junior World Championship 2013 is to reach a larger audience than ever before. The tournament will be broadcast in 184 countries around the world and reach almost 317 million homes.

More than 280 hours of the under 20 tournament will be broadcast on television. In addition, 17 matches will be streamed live on the IRB website.

The sixth IRB Junior World Championship begins in France on 5 June.

IRB Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “This competition is magical. It provides some of the best Rugby on offer at this age level. Rugby fans around the globe associate the IRB Junior World Championship with open, running Rugby played by the 12 best under age teams in the world and I have no doubt that the excitement on the field will be matched by the warm welcome and hospitality that will greet the teams and their fans.”

IRB Announce Four Venues for Junior World Rugby Trophy 2013

The International Rugby Board (IRB) has announced the four venues that will host matches at the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy 2013, with Estadio Germán Becker hosting the final on June 9.

The stadium will be the main venue and can hold 18,125 spectators. The venue will host Tonga v Canada and Chile v Portugal on the opening day.

The Estadio Municipal Freire, located in the outskirts of Temuco, and the Universidad de la Frontera, within walking distance of Estadio Germán Becker, will each host four matches.

Other matches will be played at the Estadio Municipal Pitrufquén on the outskirts of the city.

IRB Tournament Director Santiago Ramallo said: “The goal of using four stadiums is to promote the Araucania region with player welfare in mind.

“We’ve secured venues with excellent playing surfaces and being able to play six matches in the Estadio Germán Becker makes it the best venue in the Junior World Rugby Trophy’s history.”

The tournament in Temuco Chile will be contested between the hosts, Canada, Japan, Italy, Namibia, Portugal, Tonga and Uruguay.

French National Handball League and Infront Agree Marketing Deal

Infront Sports & Media have signed a marketing agreement with the French National Handball League (LNH) which allows them to support the LNH in the commercialisation of their premium marketing rights.

The competitions covered in the deal include the D1 Masculine, asthma the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophee des Champions.

Jean-Francois Jeanne, decease Managing Director of Infront France said: “Infront France is delighted to support the Ligue Nationale de Handball and to provide its know-how in the fields of marketing and commercial development.

“Handball has become a major sport in France, ampoule with its events creating significant value and holding strong impact in the media. It was a logical choice for Infront to support the LNH in the marketing of its premium rights.”

“In a hugely ambitious time for the LNH, the targets were set on having a company by our side that is committed to the realisation of our long-term objectives,” added Philippe Bernat-Salles, President of the Ligue Nationale de Handball.

“Infront has demonstrated its sports marketing know-how and expertise on a national as well as international level and we therefore highly appreciate its future support.”

Infront, whose French base is in Paris, have a long tradition in handball, including a partnership deal with the European Handball Federation which has existed since 1992.

Overview:

The Community Programs Manager will be responsible for creating and driving the community engagement agenda for the Brisbane Lions. Reporting to the Head of Consumer, cheap the role will be responsible for building the Club’s multicultural community engagement program and work closely with key AFL, cure government and Club stakeholders and partners. It will also work closely with AFLQ to leverage the development resources that AFLQ poses, including Auskick and club football programs. Key areas of responsibility of the Community Programs Manager include;

  • Lead the evolution and delivery of a high impact community program while remaining aligned with the underlying principles and purposes of innovation, community empowerment and partnership
  • Work closely with the Club Executive Team and Football Department to align wider strategies of the Club with the community program
  • Lead the Community Programs commercial partnerships to deliver a program that aligns with Club strategy and partner objectives
  • Implement strategies targeted at the AFL community to increase upon our current fan base from the ground up, Club Connect and other participation programs for fan development outcomes;
  • Working closely with AFLQ and the Membership, Ticketing and Marketing teams to deliver effective ticketing and sampling initiatives within AFL participation programs Queensland as a direct measure of fan based activities;
  • Coordinate events both on and off site, including on match days and community activity, such as family days, festivals and Club events.

The ideal candidate will have worked prior in multicultural programs and/or fan development space, and have demonstrated experience in event coordination. Previous experience in sports will be favoured, but not required.

We’re looking for candidates that are;

  • Passionate about community initiatives and driven to work in the sports industry.
  • Forward thinking, creative and ideas driven, with the ability to think on their feet.
  • Excellent communicators, both verbal and written.
  • A strong relationship builder across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the industry and role, hours can be irregular so flexibility, some travel and a manual driver’s licence is required.  You must be available to work home games during the AFL season.

Charlton Remains Home of Premier League in Israel

Israeli television network Charlton has agreed an extended deal for the English Premier League rights in Israel.

The renewed agreement will cover the next three years, anabolics from the 2016/17 season until the 2018/19 season and see the channel remain as the exclusive broadcaster of the Premier League in Israel.

 

 

France Should Give up Hosting Rights to Euro 2016, Says Former World Cup Striker

Former French World Cup striker Just Fontaine believes France should not host Euro 2016 next summer following the tragedy in Paris on Friday. 

Fontaine was at the Stade de France on Friday to watch France take on Germany, where terrorists detonated bombs outside the ground. 

The 82-year-old says France should ‘forego’ the event.
