Lucozade Sport renew London Marathon deal

Lucozade Sport has renewed it’s contract as the official sports drink partner of the Virgin Money London Marathon.

The three-year deal will take the partnership up to and including the 2019 event.

The deal will see continued exposure for Lucozade Sport as the official partner across all its sports performance products, including Lucozade Sport, Lucozade Sport Lite and Lucozade Sport Elite ranges.

FIFA Awards TF1 and beIN Sports French Broadcast Rights to 2018 & 2022 World Cup

FIFA has granted media rights in France to broadcasters TF1 and beIN Sports for its major international football competitions up to and including the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The deal with TF1 covers the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and beIN SPORTS has been appointed as a pay-TV rights holder in France for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.

LAFC Bring in Comedian Will Ferrell as Part-Owner

New Major League Soccer (MLS) club Los Angeles FC has confirmed American comedian and actor Will Ferrell has become a part-owner of the club.

The MLS expansion club is expected to begin play in the 2018 season and Ferrell joins a growing number of part owners which currently includes LA Lakers basketball legend Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson and former US women’s national team star Mia Hamm.

Blatter to Run For Fifth Term as FIFA President

FIFA President Sepp Blatter has confirmed he will stand for re-election for a fifth term.

The 78-year-old Swiss made the announcement in a video interview at the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester today.

“My mission is not finished, adiposity ” he said in a pre-recorded interview in Zurich.

“I have told the FIFA Congress, cough I have told the congresses of the confederations. Then I got through the last congress in Sao Paulo not only the impression but the support of the majority, viagra a huge majority of national associations asking ‘Please go on, be our president also in future.”

Blatter said he would officially announce his intentions at the FIFA Executive Committee meeting on September 25-26.

Despite overwhelming support from five of the six regional confederations, UEFA aside, Blatter chose to wait until after UEFA President Michel Platini had decided not to run, before announcing he would stand for re-election.

Platini decided at the end of August he would not challenge Blatter and instead informed UEFA of his intentions to run for another term as President, with the election in March 2015.

Blatter is the strong favourite to be re-elected for a fifth term on May 29, with former FIFA deputy general Jerome Champagne, who announced his candidacy in January, seen as an outsider to be elected.

Special Olympics GB Announce Sheffield as Host City for 2017 National Summer Games

Special Olympics GB has confirmed that the 2017 National Summer Games will be held in Sheffield from 7-11 August 2017.

It will be the second time the multi-sports event, allergy the 10th in the history of the organisation, will be held in Sheffield and is expected to attract 2,000 athletes, 500 voluntary coaches and an estimated 5,000 family members.

The Sheffield Hallam University Athletics Stadium, Sheffield City Trust’s Ponds Forge International Sports Centre and the English Institute of Sport Sheffield are among the venues that will host the UK’s biggest disability sports event for the Games.

Special Olympics GB’s National Summer Games is the showpiece event held every four years for the organisation and its athletes.

Councillor Julie Dore, Leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Sheffield has been selected to host the Special Olympics GB National Summer Games in three years’ time.

“The decision is testament to the fact that Sheffield is a great sporting city, home to the sort of world-leading venues that befit a highly prestigious event such as this.

“This is another opportunity for our communities to get involved in a wonderful celebration of all things sporting.’’

Karen Wallin, Special Olympics GB’s CEO, said: “We are thrilled to be heading back to Sheffield.  We expect in the region of 2,000 athletes and 500 voluntary coaches – supported by a further 500 volunteers and estimated 5,000 family members – to visit Sheffield in the summer of 2017 for our biggest national event which takes place every four years.

West Bromwich Albion sign shirt sponsorship with K8

West Bromwich Albion have announced K8 as the Club’s new shirt sponsor from 2016/17.

The agreement with the online casino operator will be for a two-year period in a record commercial deal for the Club.
