Mitoo Raises $ 1.5m to Build Platform For World’s Sports

Sportradar Appoint New Chief Commercial Officer

Sports data company Sportradar US have appointed Steve Byrd as their new Chief Commercial Officer.

In his new role, order Byrd will be responsible for leading relationships with large media and technology clients for Sportradar’s global sports data and content in North America.

“From a global perspective, for sale we are ecstatic that Steve is joining the company. We have great confidence that he can help build the U.S. business,” said Ulrich Harmuth, Sportradar’s Managing Director Business Development.

“We also look forward to working closely with Steve on the continued development of our global strategy, in which the U.S. will play a critical part.”

Rugby World Cup to Generate £1 Billion According to Study

An economic impact study has revealed that the Rugby World Cup 2015 in England is set to deliver nearly £1 billion of additive value into the UK economy.

The study, viagra which was undertaken by EY on behalf of the organising committee for Rugby World Cup 2015, sale England Rugby 2015, looked at the different ways in which a Rugby World Cup can benefit the host nation.

It estimates that the tournament will generate a total output of around £2.2 billion, which is in line with a previous economic study undertaken by Deloitte in 2008. The EY report predicts that this will translate into a contribution of £982 million to national GDP.

The report states that Rugby World Cup 2015 is expected to attract more international visitors than any previous Rugby World Cup, with an estimate of up to 466,000 visits.

Through spend on items including travel and accommodation, visitors are expected to contribute up to £869 million in direct expenditure.

Chief Executive of England Rugby 2015, Debbie Jevans, said: “Rugby World Cup 2015 is set to create a wide range of economic opportunities across many different sectors. Whether through investment in infrastructure, supporting jobs or generating revenue in fanzones, the economic benefits will be shared around our 11 host cities and beyond.

“With Rugby World Cup 2015 expected to attract more visitors than any previous Rugby World Cup, the tournament is on track to deliver a strong economic legacy.”

The author of the report, Peter Arnold, a Director from EY, added: “Our forecasts are based on a whole range of direct, indirect and induced benefits of Rugby World Cup 2015, from the investment that will be made in infrastructure to the ticket and tax revenues that will be generated.

“The tournament creates economic activity and employment throughout the supply chain, which has the potential to bolster the growth of the host cities as well as the UK overall.”

Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “Rugby World Cup is one of the world’s biggest and most popular global sporting events that attracts sports and major event fans from around the world for a six-week celebration of Rugby and the host nation.”

“The findings of the EY report outline the enormous economic, sporting and social benefits of Rugby World Cup, reaffirming its low-risk, high-return attractiveness to future host unions and governments and just why the tournament increasingly is great for Rugby and great for the host nation.”

Sreesanth Found Guilty of Spot-Fixing During the IPL

Test fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth has been found guilty of spot-fixing during the Indian Premier League (IPL) by an internal investigation.

Sreesanth and three other players were found guilty of the offence by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) anti-corruption chief Ravi Sawani.

Two other players were found guilty in the probe for not reporting approaches made by bookmakers according to The Indian Express.

A leaked report published by the paper said Sreesanth, purchase Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were found guilty of allowing a ‘pre-determined number of runs per over in exchange for bribes.’

Sawani said: “The disciplinary committee may consider my report and impose such sanctions as considered appropriate to send out a strong signal indicating the zero tolerance policy of the BCCI to any corruption in the sport that is so dear to millions of Indians and fans abroad.

“Obviously, sale the anti-corruption education given to the players had no impact on the conduct. Therefore, capsule the players deserve no leniency whatsoever.”

A spokesman for the BCCI refused to comment on the story and said a disciplinary committee would discuss the findings.

Amit Singh was the fourth player to be found guilty and was described by Sawani as ‘the bad fish that spoils the entire pond.’

Nike Extend Deal with England

Nike have extended their kit sponsorship of the England national football team, erectile agreeing a 12-year extension reportedly worth around £400m.

The deal is understood to be the second most-lucrative deal in international football – behind Adidas’ association with world champions Germany – with the partnership due to continue until 2030.

Paralympics website hacked during streaming of Rio 2016 opening ceremony 

Millions of people who tuned in to watch the Rio 2016 Paralympics opening ceremony on the International Paralympic Committee’s website on Wednesday were let down after hackers disrupted proceedings.

The IPC’s director of communications Craig Spence confirmed to iSportconnect that the website had been subjected to “hack attacks” at a time when they were meant to be exclusively streaming the ceremony from Rio de Janeiro’s Maracana Stadium.

Speaking after a media briefing at the Paralympic Village, Spence was optimistic that the website should work with few problems over the next week as the site streams the sporting action of the Games.

ECB kit deal with Adidas comes to an end

The England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed the conclusion of its agreement with adidas as Official Kit Supplier to the England teams at the end of the current agreement in March 2017.

adidas became the ECB’s Official Kit Supplier in 2008, providing match and training wear to all England teams including the men’s and women’s Test, One-Day and T20 sides as well as the Lions and all four England disability teams.

The ECB will start the 2017 domestic season with a new Official Kit Supplier, agreed under a five-year deal to be announced in the spring.

The new partnership will begin with a men’s One-Day International series against Ireland in May and include the men’s team in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy (June) and women in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup (June-July), both played on home soil next summer.

Sanjay Patel, Commercial Director at the ECB said: “We are very grateful for the successful partnership with adidas and thank them for their excellent support over the past eight seasons.

“During the partnership, England teams have enjoyed success on and off the pitch and the women’s and disability game has grown at pace. adidas has been a key part of that and we wish them well.”

Eir Sport to broadcast Rugby World Cup in Republic of Ireland

Eir Sport has been named as rights-holding broadcaster in the Republic of Ireland for Rugby World Cup 2019, Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 and other key events.

The broadcaster, formerly known as Setanta Sports, will show all 48 games live from Japan in 2019 with 13 of them, including Ireland’s pool matches, the opening game, the four quarter-finals, both semi-finals, the bronze final and the final also being shown live on a free-to-air channel yet to be confirmed.

Under the terms of the deal, Eir Sport will manage the broadcast of live coverage of all 48 matches and will also deliver a TV, digital and mobile highlights offering as well as some additional programming. 

World Rugby Chief Executive Brett Gosper said: “Rugby World Cup 2015 was a very special and record-breaking tournament. Central to its success was the reach and appeal of the tournament through our broadcast partners in the UK and Ireland, where record rugby audiences were achieved.

“Ireland has traditionally been a strong and passionate rugby market and we are delighted to be appointing a broadcaster that shares our enthusiasm for our showcase events in both the men’s and women’s games, as the exciting momentum continues towards what promises to be a ground-breaking Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan and a thrilling Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017 in Ireland.”

Rugby World Cup 2015 was the most widely viewed rugby event ever. The live audience for the 2015 tournament increased by a factor of 48 per cent over the 2011 edition in New Zealand, with live viewership through 106 broadcasters reaching nearly 724 million homes worldwide. In Ireland, Rugby World Cup matches delivered three of the top four broadcast audiences in the Republic in 2015.

As part of the deal announced in Dublin on Monday, Eir Sports will also broadcast the World Rugby U20 Championship 2017-19 and Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
