Crystal Palace Agree Soccertel Sponsorship

English nPower Championship soccer strugglers Crystal Palace FC, pills have agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with telecommunications company Soccertel.

Soccertel will provide Palace fans with cheaper calls on their mobile phones, as well as mobile internet services under the terms of the agreement.

Mark Catlin, Soccertel managing director, said of the deal: “Although I have been involved in the telecoms business for many years, the true love of my life is football, and for me personally, it’s great that we have been able to develop a product and strategy that enables fans to benefit from the incredible cheap rates that we offer. More importantly, it enables them to receive unique, innovative offers and gifts directly associated with Crystal Palace FC.”

In addition, the partnership will also enable fans of the south London club free entry to the club’s ground, Selhurst Park, by topping up credit onto their mobile phones. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed by either party.

Catlin added: “The members of the commercial team that I have dealt with, Chris Powlson and Kevin Miller have from day one seen what see what we are trying to achieve with Soccertel, and have been very supportive and provocative in making this deal possible.”

Kevin Miller, senior commercial sales for Crystal Palace, added: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Mark and his team to Selhurst Park. The package offered by Soccertel really gives fans tangible rewards and will hopefully generate some great phone deals for them. On matchdays they will see the Soccertel brand advertised on the Whitehorse Lane stand wall in the stadium as well as in the matchday programme, and will also be able to get information via the website and e-newsletter.”

SPL’s St. Mirren Sign JD Sports Shirt Sponsorship

Scottish Premier League (SPL) soccer side St Mirren Football Club, who currently find themselves just one place off the bottom of the table, have been given a boost after agreeing a new kit deal and sponsorship with sports retail company JD Sports.

The new deal will see one of JD’s exclusive fashion brand, Carbrini Sportswear, emblazoned on the kit of the Scottish club for the next three years from the beginning of next season. Carbrini will provide the club with a new design which will see the team return to a fully black and white striped kit with no panel on the back.

Richard Atkinson, St Mirren director, spoke of the deal: “It is great to be able to do a deal with a company that can provide the club both the individual attention in a bespoke designed kit as well as the multi-site retail reach of a major British owned and based business. I am personally very excited about the way in which the club and the JD Sports relationship could develop over the coming years”

Guy Walker of JD Sports added: “This is a great deal for both St Mirren Football Club and JD Sports. Burrda Sport Become Official Apparel Provider for US Handball

USA Team Handball and Pilatus Sports Management SA today announced that the Switzerland-based company has signed a multi-year contract for the BURRDA SPORT brand to be the Official Apparel Provider to USA Team Handball.  The announcement comes at conclusion of the 22nd Men’s Handball World Championship.

Beginning this spring, capsule all USA Men’s and Women’s teams will wear BURRDA SPORT during official competitions, erectile training sessions and travel.  The broad partnership includes apparel for players, search coaches and training staff – with plans in the works for options for lifestyle line, shoes and handballs in the years to come.  The initial partnership includes a significant cash sponsorship by BURRDA SPORT and thousands of articles of merchandise.  BURRDA SPORT will also join the USATH Board of Directors.

Foot Locker Extend NBA Contest Sponsorship

A mutli-year extension of a sponsorship deal between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and shoe retailer Foot Locker has been agreed, according to a report on Media Post.

Foot Locker will remain as title sponsor of the three-point contest at the yearly NBA All-Star game, a sponsorship the company has held since 2004. The contest has run ever since 1986 at the annual showcase game.

This year’s edition, which will take place on 20th February at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, will feature a ‘3 for 3 sweepstakes’ competition with entry available in Foot Locker stores, online, or via text. Prizes include cash and Foot Locker gift vouchers.

Spectators at this year’s All-Star game will be given Foot Locker ‘cheer cards’. The company will also be entitled to player appearances in stores in Los Angeles.

Hyundai Sponsor ICC in USD44m Deal

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have signed their final sponsorship deal with Hyundai Motor Company to become the governing bodies first official car partner, in a deal worth US$44m, for the duration of a new five-year agreement.

Under this agreement, ICC officials and players will use Hyundai cars for official transportation for the duration of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Additionally, Hyundai will be the transportation partner for ICC’s other competitions, such as the Champions Trophy, Women’s World Cup and the World Twenty20, among other exclusive rights.

Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, HMIL, spoke at a press conference yesterday, February 8, stating: “The estimated cost of the partnership between ICC and HMIL is more than Rs 200 crore (two billion) for the next five years. It includes the ICC deal as well as the cost of our media campaign.

“The cost of the media campaign will be varying in future. It keeps changing every year depending on various factors.”

HW Park, CEO HMIL, said at the signing ceremony on behalf of Hyundai: “The ICC Cricket World Cup is one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas and we are proud to be part of this event. Hyundai shares ICC’s deep-rooted passion for cricket and remains committed to supporting the game in the future as well.”

Mercedes-Benz Become Open Championship Partner

Mercedes-Benz have extended their ties in sport and with golf in particular having agreed to become official partner of the Open Championship. The automotive company are already committed to relationships with The Masters, the PGA Championship and the 2012 Ryder Cup.

The company, at present is associated with three of the four major golf tournaments as the exclusive automotive partner.

Mercedes-Benz Cars Vice President Brand Communications, Anders Sundt Jensen stated: “Our global golf strategy is based on the principle of ‘The best or nothing’. The Open Championship complements this strategy, and therefore with our brand perfectly.”

“We want to make use of this major golf tournament in particular for our various marketing activities as well as customer care measures. In addition, we will also link the MercedesTrophy, a worldwide premium amateur series, with The Open Championship, for example the programme ‘Drive to the Major’, a global competition to win the opportunity to qualify to play at the Monday Foursome.”

Mercedes-Benz UK President and CEO Wilfried Steffen added: “The company will provide the exclusive chauffeur service at the major championship and together with The R&A will also provide communications support for the entire tournament.”

UEFA Euro Under-21s Partnered by Sport Event Denmark

The UEFA European Under-21 Championships staged in the summer of this year have agreed a deal announcing Sport Event Denmark as an official partner of the elite European youth soccer tournament.

In a deal agreed with UEFA subsidiary UEFA Events SA, order Sport Event Denmark will generate local and international promotional campaigns for the tournament, doctor which will feature eight teams playing at four Danish venues from 11th to 25th June. In addition, the organisation can expect its branding to be present on signage at each game.

UEFA Events SA chief executive David Taylor said: “Uefa is delighted to welcome Sport Event Denmark on board as an official partner of the U21 tournament. Sport Event Denmark will give the championship a significant boost by providing valuable exposure for the tournament, as well as providing unmatched experience and expertise in supporting successful international events in Denmark.”

Lars Lundov, the chief executive of Sport Event Denmark, added: “We are very pleased to be an official partner – as well as event partner with the Danish Football Association (DBU) and the host cities – in terms of the Uefa European Under-21 Championship in Denmark. USANA Renew WTA Sponsorship

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) have secured the renewal of a sponsorship with USANA Health Services on a three-year extension.

The agreement will see USANA sponsor a number of worldwide WTA events including the China tennis festivals, as well as remaining as the official health supplement supplier for the organisation. The company will also obtain exposure from some of the games top athletes such as Kim Clijsters, through a player ambassador program.

WTA’s chairman and chief executive, Stacey Allaster stated: “USANA…through the years has met the WTA and WADA’s (World Anti-Doping Agency) rigorous standards and is a vital partner in helping us ensure that women’s tennis remains a clean sport.

“It speaks volumes that more than 150 WTA players use USANA products today, and we are thrilled to have USANA on board for three additional years. This announcement is another great indication of the investment value that sponsors are finding in the WTA.”

USANA CEO Dave Wentz added: “It’s an honour to continue our sponsorship of the WTA. This will be the fifth year of our partnership.”
