V8 Supercars Driver Mark Winterbottom to Remain Tecalemit Ambassador

Tecalemit has renewed the company’s brand ambassador agreement with Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon driver Mark ‘Frosty’ Winterbottom for the 2012 season.

Honda Renew Title Sponsorship of PGA Tour’s Honda Classic

The PGA TOUR, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and tournament host organization Children’s Healthcare Charity, Inc., announced Wednesday that Honda has extended its title sponsorship of The Honda Classic by four years, through 2016.

Honda, which became title sponsor of the tournament in 1982, is the longest-running continuous sponsor on the PGA TOUR. The current agreement is through this year’s tournament.

“We are delighted to announce that Honda, which is celebrating its 31st year as title sponsor of The Honda Classic, has agreed to continue its long-standing support of the tournament through a new four-year agreement,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. “The Honda Classic has been a mainstay on the Florida Swing for more than 40 years and Honda has played an integral role in its success and growth over the past three decades. We’re particularly pleased with the direction and identity of The Honda Classic after undergoing several significant changes five years ago, including the involvement of Jack and Barbara Nicklaus.”

Additionally, Ken Kennerly became the tournament’s new Executive Director and the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation was named the primary beneficiary of The Honda Classic. The Honda Classic has achieved new heights with these changes and the oversight of Kennerly and Tournament Director Ed McEnroe.

The tournament has been a part of the PGA TOUR since 1972 and over the years has seen many of the game’s top players win, including Nicklaus (back-to-back titles in 1977-78) and fellow World Golf Hall of Fame members Lee Trevino, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Johnny Miller, Nick Price, Vijay Singh and Ernie Els.

Swimming Canada Partners with COC to Stage National Olympic Trials

With less than a month to the London 2012 selection trials in Montreal, therapy Swimming Canada has announced a historical partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) bringing the first ever Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials to life with RBC named title sponsor of the event in Montreal.

NRL’s Vodafone Warriors Get TAB Sport as New Sponsor

TAB Sport is backing the NRL’s Vodafone Warriors after signing on as a club sponsor for the next three years.

Bill Colgan, chief executive of New Zealand Racing Board, which owns and operates TAB Sport, said the organisation was looking forward to the association following the club’s involvement in all three 2011 grand finals at ANZ Stadium last year.

The NRL grand final itself had produced TAB Sport’s largest turnover in history for a rugby league match, a key driver in the decision to sign with New Zealand’s only NRL club.

Colgan said TAB Sport was keen to promote sensible betting in rugby league with a range of appealing options on all Vodafone Warriors games.
“Research has shown rugby league is one of New Zealand’s fastest-growing sports,” he said.

“Our vision is to position TAB Sport alongside vibrant and successful sporting brands like the Vodafone Warriors. They’re one of the market leaders on the New Zealand sporting landscape so it was an easy decision for us to become a sponsor.

“There’s a huge community involvement in rugby league from the grassroots level through to the Vodafone Warriors.”

Colgan said TAB Sport would be encouraging Vodafone Warriors members and fans to take advantage of the exciting range of betting options on all Vodafone Warriors games and the NRL generally.

Real Madrid & Barcelona Enter Thai Market in Deal with ThaiBev

Thai Beverage Plc (ThaiBev), the brewer of Chang beer, is spending 1 billion baht ($33million) to boost the brand through a deal with Real Madrid and Barcelona, two of the world’s top football clubs.

The company yesterday signed a three-year marketing pact with the clubs worth a combined 500 million baht ($16.5m) to help raise the profile of Chang Export brand, Chang soda and Chang drinking water in Thailand and elsewhere in Asia.

Chang will be allowed to use the logos of both clubs and images of their footballers on product packaging and in advertisements.

Moreover, ThaiBev will spend another 500 million baht on marketing activity for Chang products in the next three years and to bring Spanish football clubs to play here for Thai fans.

Matthew Kichodhan, ThaiBev’s senior vice-president for international business, said Real Madrid will support the launch of newer Chang products, particularly Chang Export beer, solely in Thailand, while the support of Barcelona will cover the whole of Asia.

“We’re happy to be in partnership with the two football clubs, as they’re popular with a lot of fans worldwide,” he said.

As Barcelona and Real Madrid are “clubs of a new generation”, they will help Chang Export reach new beer drinkers, Mr Matthew said.

The move is a further step in strengthening products under the Chang label in Thailand and elsewhere in Asia.

In the past, ThaiBev was a featured sponsor on the jerseys for Everton, an English Premier League club.

“After three years passed with the Everton partnership, the image of Chang beer was more premium,” Mr Matthew said.

The company exports Chang beer to more than 50 countries worldwide and expects average annual sales growth of 30%.

Export sales for ThaiBev totalled 6 billion baht last year and are seen rising to 30 billion baht in the next five years.

Mr Matthew said the company introduced Chang Export beer three months ago and sold 22 million litres of it in short order compared with 10 million litres a year for Chang Draft.

Via the partnership with famous football clubs, ThaiBev expects sales of Chang Export to reach 60 million litres by year-end.

Under the three-year deal with the two clubs, sales of all products under the Chang brand, both domestic and export, are forecast to reach 50 billion baht, up from 28 billion last year.

Glamorgan Cricket Inks Kit Deal with Gray-Nicolls

Glamorgan CCC have signed a four-year kit deal with innovative worldwide brand Gray-Nicolls.

The deal will see the Sussex-based firm supply playing kit, ed training gear, replica kit and leisure wear featuring essential items such as polos, caps, sun hats, fleeces and rain jackets.

A range of training clothing is available now in the club shop at the SWALEC Stadium and online at www.glamorgancricket.com, with the extended range – including the Welsh Dragons coloured shirt – available nearer the start of the season.

Glamorgan sales director Pete Grzonka said: “We’re really excited to be associated with a brand of the quality of Gray-Nicolls.

Surrey Cricket Team Extend Partnership with talkSPORT

Surrey CCC have renewed their partnership with UTV Media (GB), health owner of talkSPORT and Sport Magazine, to promote this year’s Friends Life t20 matches at the Kia Oval.

The deal will see Surrey benefit from regular advertising on talkSPORT and Sport Magazine, with listeners and readers enjoying regular opportunities to win tickets to the matches – both in the stands and in the brand new ‘Club Level’ seats situated in the iconic OCS Stand.
