Scottish Government Extend Sponsorship of League Cup

The Scottish Government will renew its sponsorship of the Scottish Communities League Cup.

The cup will receive £1.7m ($2.63m) in funding support, buy £500, adiposity 000 ($775, arthritis 125) of which will come from the hugely successful Cashback for Communities programme. The funding is up 70 per cent on the amount available last year.

First Minister Alex Salmond said: “Part of the £1.7m we’re investing in this year’s Scottish Communities League Cup will support the delivery of the tournament itself, but a majority will go towards supporting football league clubs in villages, towns and cities across Scotland.

“There have been some well-publicised issues in Scottish football recently, and obviously these developments and the restructuring we are all hopeful for are decisions that need to be taken by the football authorities themselves.”

The Scottish Government’s sponsorship of the Scottish Communities League Cup will help support the Games Legacy ambitions to have a more Active Scotland by helping football clubs increase the number of opportunities for people to lead healthier and more active lives and by supporting the aim to have 150 Community Sport Hubs across the country by 2016.

STX Partner with USA Field Hockey

Lingo joins STX as a product and brand advisor for field hockey, bringing elite player insight into the sport. Lingo will also be featured in the new ‘We Will Rise’ marketing campaign for STX.

Specsavers Continue Scottish Referees Support

Football referees in Scotland are rejoicing following Specsavers decision to continue its sponsorship.

The re-signing of the substantial six-figure sponsorship deal will see the partnership between Specsavers and Scotland’s referees entering its 10 year – one of the longest agreements of its kind in sport.

Nearly 2, therapy 500 match officials have been trained since the relationship began in 2002 – and both parties are looking to increase that total significantly over the next three seasons.

Jim Quinn, regional chair of Specsavers in Scotland said: “The relationship between Specsavers has progressed over the years from a logo on a shirt to a much closer partnership that benefits the game as a whole.

“Referees visit stores for vision and hearing examinations on a regular basis and benefit from the professional care of our staff, while we use our country-wide network of stores to help recruit as many new match officials as possible, in order to support the game from local community to international level.

“Scottish football will always need referees and assistant referees, and we want to do everything we can to make sure they get the best possible support to do their job on the pitch.”

The funding provided by Specsavers has been instrumental in helping ensure the flow of new referees into the Scottish game, with significant investment going into training and development all the way from grassroots to elite level.

Specsavers has provided cash for radio communication equipment for use in the SPL & other matches, training facilities and kit for regional groups and hi-tech video editing for the production of coaching materials. The optical group’s support has also helped to deliver the refereeing SQA programme within schools and colleges.

John Fleming, head of referee development, said: “The 10th year of our partnership with Specsavers is a fantastic landmark for the Scottish FA and, in particular, the Referee Development Department.  The continued support of Specsavers will enable us to achieve strong, quality growth as part of the Scottish FA’s Scotland United 20/20 vision strategy.

“Over the last 10 years we have recruited more than 2,400 referees and these new recruits are the lifeblood of refereeing in Scotland.

“Specsavers’ support has helped us to develop the new Scottish Qualification Authority ‘Referee Development Award’ which provides an opportunity for secondary school pupils to become involved in refereeing. We have also been able to deliver more training than ever before to our current referees at all levels of the game, and run the very first Celtic Nations Refereeing Seminar for female referees.

“The Specsavers brand has become an established and recognised part of the referee’s kit and I am positive that both the Scottish FA and Specsavers will prosper from continued partnership going forward.’”

Specsavers’ sponsorship of football referees is one of the largest in Scottish sport, and complements the optical group’s investment in supporting match officials in other sports including rugby and bowls.

NBA-style Arena to be Built in Xiamen

Huahong Investment and NBA China have agreed a partnership that will involve the NBA consulting on the design and development of a multi-purpose, NBA-style arena in a new entertainment district in Xiamen’s Jimei District.

The official ceremony was attended by Jimei District Mayor Li Yaoyue, Huahong Investment President and Chair Cheng Hong and NBA China CEO David Shoemaker.

South Korean Firms Agree Hamburger SV Sponsorship

Bundesliga club Hamburger SV (HSV) has  gained two South Korean sponsors. The club has agreed deals with Hanwha Solar and Kumho Tires.

The deals  will run until 2013 and generate about €1.5M ($1.8M).

HSV won the Peace Cup in South Korea this weekend and is popular with the local population, pilule largely because of 20-year-old striker Son Heung-Min.{jcomments on}

ESPN Star Gets Three Sponsors for Olympic Games Coverage

For their Olympic Games broadcast in India, clinic Sports broadcaster ESPN Star has inked sponsorship deals with Hero MotoCorp, impotent Tata Docomo and Airtel Digital.

The firm, that will be airing the coverage of the world’s biggest sports extravaganza on three of its channels – Star Sports, ESPN and ESPN HD – has sold up to 80 per cent on advertisement inventory.

“There will be three main sponsors for our London Olympics broadcast and the rest will be spot bookings,” Mr Sanjay Kailash, Executive Vice President, ESPN Software India Pvt Ltd told PTI.

He said the company has already signed up Hero MotoCorp, Tata Docomo and Airtel Digital as the three main sponsors with up to 80 per cent of ad inventory allotted to them.

“For the rest we are still negotiating with a number of advertisers,” Mr Kailash said but declined to disclose details saying it could be finalised in the next two to three days.

The games will be held from July 27 to August 12.

 

Vision Express Extends Away Kit Sponsorship of Notts County

Nottingham based company Vision Express have agreed to sponsor Notts County new away and third kit shirts for the 2012/2013 season. 

It will be Vision Express’ third year as away shirt sponsor, arthritis previously striking a deal in the summer of 2010 to have their logo on the front of the jersey. 

Players and staff have visited local branches of one of Europe’s largest optical retailer throughout the past two years and supporters have also had free eye-tests and special offers through the club’s official matchday programme. 

Vision Express have also become a gold partner for the 150 year anniversary as the Magpies celebrate the landmark in 2012. 

Notts County Chairman Ray Trew said: “We are all delighted to continue to have the support of such a national and international company such as Vision Express again as our away kit sponsor for such an important year in the football club’s long history. 

“I am sure the shirts will prove to be a huge hit with our fan base, both in England and in Italy, with the third kit striking a resemblance to our friends from Juventus. 

“The board also felt it was appropriate to have the new away shirt in the famous orange and black hoops, the colours we originally wore back in 1867.” 

Strategy Director of Vision Express Brian Linnington added:  “As a business, with our head office in Nottingham, we are delighted to support the oldest football league club in the world as they celebrate there 150 anniversary.”

EA Sports Get in the Game with Tottenham Hotspur

Electronic Arts Inc. and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club announced they have agreed to a three-year partnership that will make EA SPORTS the Official Video Game Partner of the English Premier League club.

Over the course of the partnership, Tottenham Hotspur and EA will develop a range of initiatives to entertain and engage fans both at White Hart Lane, the club’s home pitch, and more widely across their media channels. This includes exclusive videos featuring Tottenham Hotspur players, the ability for fans to predict match outcomes using the EA SPORTS game engine, and exclusive tournament footage taken from the club’s Training Center to determine the best FIFA 13 player in the squad.

In addition, EA SPORTS will create a special Tottenham Hotspur game packaging sleeve for FIFA 13, which fans will be able to download from the club website prior to the games launch.

At selected home matches over the course of the season, the EA SPORTS Dugout, a mobile gaming trailer, will be on-site so fans can play EA SPORTS games.

Tottenham Hotspur joins seven other English Premier League teams that have become club partners with EA SPORTS. The other club partners are Arsenal, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Everton, Fulham, Newcastle, and Manchester City.

Royal Brunei Airlines to Sponsor Brunei Olympic Team at London 2012

Brunei athletes, ed Ak Hafiy Tajuddin Pg Rositi and Dyg Maziah Mahusin competing in Athletic Sports in the London Olympic 2012 received a financial boost after Royal Brunei Airlines agreed to sponsor the team for the event.

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, doctor the President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, was present to witness the signing ceremony for a sponsorship agreement between the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council with Royal Brunei Airlines, TelBru and Mitsui Consortium. 

Royal Brunei Airlines will be the official airline for the Brunei Olympic team. Royal Brunei Airlines will sponsor the return air fares to London for Ak Hafiy Tajuddin Pg Rositi and Dayang Maziah Mahusin as well as the rest of Brunei’s contingent.
