HSBC Renews LPGA Women’s Championship Sponsorship

HSBC has renewed its title sponsorship of the LPGA Women’s Championship. The financial services company has renewed its sponsorship of the tournament, erectile which takes place in Singapore, adiposity for three years.

Giles Morgan, Global Head of Sponsorship and Events for HSBC, said: “It delivers on so many levels and has fantastic support at both a local and international level. The players have supported this event wholeheartedly from the outset which is also why we are so delighted to announce this news today and very much look forward to next year’s event.”

Widnes Vikings Seal Four New Sponsorship Deals

English Rugby League team, Widnes Vikings have ramped up their commecial activity with four new sponsorship deals. 

The Vikings have partnered with Stobart, Ultimate sports nutrition (USN),  Maltacourt and Magners Cider.

Stobart will continue as the club’s Official Principal Partner for the 2013 Super League XVIII season. 

This will be the 6th year the Trucking giant has lent its considerable support to the Vikings, having first joined forces with the club ahead of the 2008 campaign, soon after the arrival of Steve O’Connor as Chairman.

Delighted to extend the clubs relationship with the UK leader in transport and distribution, Vikings CEO James Rule commented; “The Stobart brand is internationally recognised and we display it on our playing jerseys and throughout the club with a tremendous pride. Their support is integral to the continued growth of our club both on and off the field and we look forward to working with them again in 2013.”

USN will once again be working closely with the club’s Strength and Conditioning coach Clive Brewer to ensure the Vikings players reach the ultimate in fitness levels and at the same time enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

Rule also expressed his delighted, commenting; “We are really pleased that USN has decided to partner up with us again for 2013. 

“Having already built a high profile in Rugby Union, they were looking to get involved in Rugby League and joined forces with the Vikings for the 2012 campaign and both parties are extremely happy with how the first 12 months evolved.

The Maltacourt name will continue to appear on the reverse of the 2013 home shirt and will also be the primary sponsor on next season’s alternate playing jersey. 

Further to a continued presence on the all-new playing and replica kit, Maltacourt branding will continue to feature prominently within The Stobart Stadium. The partnership will also support a number of community-specific initiatives and projects with the clubs Valhalla Foundation.

Rule, added; “The Maltacourt partnership was a huge part of the Widnes Vikings’ story last year. Their investment allowed cutting edge developments to be put in place and a significant advancement in the technical capabilities of our Performance Department.

The Magners deal will feature the logo on the sleeve of the all-new 2013 home shirt.

Kia Becomes Official Vehicle of Madison Square Garden

The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) and Kia Motors America announced today a long-term extension and expansion of their marketing partnership, making Kia a Signature Partner of MSG.

Kia is one of the fastest-growing car companies in the U.S. over the last five years and the new partnership provides the automaker with exposure across The Madison Square Garden Company’s unrivaled set of sports, entertainment and media properties in New York, including the transformed Arena.

Kia’s Official Vehicle designation will include significant branding exposure at the Arena for all associated sports events and the Concert Series. Oakley Drop Lance Armstrong after UCI Decide Against Challenging Doping Report

Lance Armstrong is in dire straits after Oakley was added to the list of sponsors who have left the American after cycling’s governing body stripped him of his Tour de France titles and banned him for life following doping allegations on Monday

The President of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Pat McQuaid today said that they will not challenge the report by the USADA (the United States Anti-Doping Agency) regarding Lance Armstrong’s alleged doping throughout his career. 

In an impassioned press conference, McQuaid said that there is “no place for Armstrong in cycling” and that “he deserves to be forgotten.” The shocking revelations have led to a number of high-profile sponsors cutting their ties with the cycling star

The wave of sponsors dropping Armstrong crested last week, around the same time Armstrong stepped down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer charity.

Oakley said in a statement: “Based on UCI’s decision today and the overwhelming evidence that USADApresented, Oakley has severed its longstanding relationship with Lance Armstrong, effective immediately.

“When Lance joined our family many years ago, he was a symbol of possibility. We are deeply saddened by the outcome, but look forward with hope to athletes and teams of the future who will rekindle that inspiration by racing clean, fair and honest.

“We believe the LIVESTRONG Foundation has been a positive force in the lives of many affected by cancer and, at this time, Oakley will continue to support its noble goals.

Other sponsors that have dropped Armstrong include Nike, Trek Bicycles, Anheuser-Busch, 24 Hour Fitness and Honey Stinger.

Train Operator Trenitalia Sponsor AC Milan

Serie A team AC Milan has agreed a sponsorship deal with Italian transport company Trenitalia.

The primary train operator in Italy will see its Frecciarossa service become an official partner of the club for the 2012-13 season. The high-speed service links the cities of Turin, denture Milan, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples.

The agreement means the sponsor’s logo will be visible on advertising boards around the pitch at the San Siro, along with on the backdrops used for official club activities.

“Milan chose Frecciarossa as it is a global brand that is renowned for a quality service. The partnership will see developments in important marketing initiatives, and also the use of the train for some away trips. Meanwhile the club and Trenitalia are working towards creating benefits for Rossoneri fans,” read a club statement.

HSBC Extends Title Sponsorship of Asia’s Major

HSBC have agreed a title sponsorship renewal for the LPGA’s HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore for a further three years.

Considered amongst the players as “Asia’s Major,” it has consistently gathered  a field of the world’s best women players with 49 of the top 50 on the LPGA Money list competing at last year’s tournament. The 2012 edition of the tournament was won by Angela Stanford and previous winners include Karrie Webb, Ai Miyazato, Jiyai Shin and Lorena Ochoa.

The 2013 HSBC Women’s Champions will take place Feb 28th -March 3rd and the news that HSBC intends to renew for the next three years has been universally well received by all of the leading women golfers.

World number one Yani Tseng enthused: “This is fantastic news for women’s golf. HSBC have been so generous in their support of the women’s game and put on such a special event for us in Singapore.  We are all very happy to hear the good news that they are renewing their sponsorship. The “Champions of Champions” event has one of the most challenging qualification criteria of any golf event in the world. To be sure of their place in the US$1.4 million tourbament, a player must have won a LPGA tournament in 2012 or finish the year in the Top 20 on the Rolex Rankings.

Finish Line to Jersey Sponsor WNBA’s Indiana Fever for 2013

Women’s National Basketball League’s (WNBA), Indiana Fever and Pacers Sports & Entertainment have announced a jersey sponsorship with athletic retailer Finish Line for the 2013 season.

The Finish Line brand will be integrated into Fever television broadcasts and team merchandise, team advertising and signage at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The multi-year agreement combines brand awareness with the Fever as well as activation of the Finish Line Ball Kids Program to be executed at all home games for the Fever and Indiana Pacers. Finish Line also will receive in-game advertising as part of the Pacers and Fever radio networks, and web links on FeverBasketball.com and BankersLifeFieldhouse.com. Per company policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Badminton Europe Extends Sponsorship Deal with Yonex

Badminton Europe has continued it’s long-term partnership with Badminton brand Yonex.

Badminton Europe and Yonex have been partners for already 8 years.

Badminton Europe President, Poul-Erik Høyer, said the sports organisation is very happy to solidify their association with Yonex; a market leader and known for high-quality badminton equipment and clothing.

His comments came at a Press conference in Odense on the penultimate day of action in the Denmark Open 2012. Managing Director at Yonex, Shuichi Yoneyama, responded in like fashion, stating Yonex is pleased to continue the relationship with Badminton Europe as the company wants to be an active partner in developing badminton in Europe.
