Princess Cruises Sponsors Three NFL Teams

Princess Cruises have signed sponsorship deals with three NFL teams to provide fan-based sweepstakes, expanding the cruise line’s presence in this key markets.

The brand has inked deals with Houston Texans, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers to go along with their deal with Seattle Seahawks previosuly announced. 

Regarding the Houston partnership, Gordon Ho, senior vice president of global marketing for Princess Cruises, said: “Princess Cruises has a significant presence in Houston since we have a ship based there cruising the Caribbean.  

“Not only do Houstonians have a passion for their home team, but our research tells us that Texans fans also have a passion for exploring the world on cruise vacations. So we think that bringing the two together is a winning combination.”

Nationwide Expand Hendrick Motorsports Partnership

Hendrick Motorsports has announced that U.S. based insurance company Nationwide has expanded its three-year relationship with the NASCAR team. 

Nationwide will become the majority sponsor of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the No. 88 Chevrolet SS team beginning with the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Nationwide, which in May announced it will join Hendrick Motorsports as a corporate partner, will increase its primary sponsorship of Earnhardt to 21 Sprint Cup events, including the Daytona 500, for each of the next three seasons. The revised agreement provides Nationwide with nine additional primary races in 2015 and eight additional primary races in both 2016 and 2017.

“We’re thrilled to be deepening our partnership with the Hendrick Motorsports team,” said Matt Jauchius, chief marketing officer at Nationwide. “We look forward to seeing Nationwide on the No. 88 for NASCAR’s biggest races over the next three seasons.”

Earnhardt, 39, is a two-time Nationwide Series champion and has 22 career points-paying Sprint Cup victories. NASCAR’s 11-time most popular driver, he has won three races in 2014, including his second career Daytona 500, and currently sits second in the standings. The Kannapolis, North Carolina, native recently clinched a fourth consecutive appearance in the championship-deciding Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, which will begin following Richmond.

“I know the people at Nationwide extremely well and truly appreciate how invested they are in our team and our sport,” said Earnhardt, whose family has been insured by Nationwide for more than 35 years and who has been featured in its national advertising since 2009. “It’s extremely gratifying that they recognize so much value in the partnership and want to do more. Fuelstream to Provide Logistical Services to Bafana Bafana

Fuelstream, Inc. has agreed a deal to provide both fuel uplift and logistical services for the South African Soccer Team and V.I.P. Delegation, as part of its contract with the South African Government.

South Africa’s national football team, known as Bafana Bafana, played their opening match of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan on Friday, September 5 in the 43,000 seat Al-Merreikh Stadium in Khartoum, Sudan.

English rugby union team Harelquins have signed a two-year partnership with sports nutrition brand, bronchi MaxiNutrition.

The deal will see the brand provide the Aviva Premiership rugby team with individually tailored nutritional support to complement the demands of professional rugby.

First Milk Becomes Official Supplier to Tour of Britain

Friends Life Tour of Britain has secured British lifestyle nutrition experts First Milk, parent company of CNP, as their official supplier.

The sponsorship builds on CNP’s relationship as the Official Nutrition Supplier to British Cycling, and Official Supplier of Sports Performance and Hydrations Drinks to Team Sky. It provides the nutrition specialists with the opportunity to reach over one million cycling enthusiasts and supporters throughout the UK.

In addition to branding at each stage of the Tour, the agreement gives CNP and First Milk rights to distribute their Endurance and Team Sky Breakfast Range products at sampling stations and in VIP hospitality areas during the tour.

The Tour of Britain, last year won by Sir Bradley Wiggins, is the UK’s biggest professional cycle event, with 108 top cyclists racing through nine stages, covering more than 1,377 kilometres. The 2014 event starts on Sunday 7th September in Liverpool, with a world-class field competing over eight days before culminating in a time trial and criterium in London on Sunday 14th September. More than a million fans are expected to line the route to watch the country’s largest free-to-spectate sporting event.

NFL Signs TD Ameritrade as Official Sponsor, Expands IMG Deal in Asia

With the National Football League (NFL) season kicking off last night, the NFL has signed a three-year agreement, making TD Ameritrade an official sponsor of the league.

This new relationship is effective beginning with the 2014 season and will extend through the 2016 season.

“Every day our goal is to instill confidence into millions of American investors by breaking down barriers that stand between our clients and their financial goals,” said Denise Karkos, chief marketing officer at TD Ameritrade. “Through sponsorship of the country’s favorite sports league, we have a unique opportunity to share our message of financial empowerment through education to a large, diverse, highly engaged and passionate audience.”

NFL Expands IMG Deal to Asia

The NFL also extended their deal with sports rights agencgy IMG who will distribute media rights in parts of Asia from 2014-15 to 2016-17.

IMG has been partners with the NFL for the past five years distributing rights to various European markets.

Through the deal, the multinational company will distribute live coverage of games, including regular-season and playoff games plus the Super Bowl and other related events.

“IMG has proven to be a successful partner for us in Europe and we are pleased to expand our business with them into Asia,” said the NFL’s vice president for international media and business development. “We believe IMG will help expand our reach in the region offering market expertise and building bridges for us with local networks.”

“We have developed an excellent relationship with the NFL and an understanding of their property as a global sport which has helped maximise revenue, expand coverage and increase awareness of the brand worldwide,” said IMG senior vice president and head of media, North America, Hillary Mandel.

The NFL season kicked off last night with Seattle Seahawks beginning the defence of their title with a 36-16 victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Kevin Durant Inks Yogurt Endorsement Deal

NBA star and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant said Thursday that he has signed a partnership deal with Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt.

Durant will own an undisclosed percentage of the company, his first such partnership since he joined the Roc Nation agency founded by Jay-Z last year. Orange Leaf, based in Oklahoma City, has 321 stores in 40 states, four in Australia and 69 under construction.

Orange Leaf CEO Reese Travis said he was impressed with Durant’s involvement in the Oklahoma City community, and that led him to want to partner with the Thunder forward. Travis said he was particularly touched with Durant’s efforts to help with cleanup efforts after the May 2013 Moore tornado.

“From the first conversation I ever had with him, he was very humble and very focused on what we were talking about,” Travis said. “He’s the same guy you see in the media — very down to earth.”

Durant has been in demand like never before since delivering his tearful 25-minute speech in May during which he thanked his teammates, support staff, coaches and his mother, Wanda Pratt. Since winning the MVP award, he has re-signed with Nike, Sprint and BBVA Compass, added deals with Orange Leaf and Sparkling Ice and was named the cover athlete for NBA 2K15.

Michael Yormark, Roc Nation’s president and chief of branding and strategy, told Associated Press: “I think the speech created a sense of urgency with many of the brands that we were talking to, to move forward in a meaningful way and develop a relationship with Kevin.

“Obviously, the speech was beyond magnificent, and we were talking with many brands during that period of time. I think that speech created that sense of urgency, and in many cases, truly convinced those people we were talking to that this was the right guy, the right athlete, the right brand to build a relationship with.”

New York Giants Punter Steve Weatherford to Endorse SKINS

Prior to joining the Giants, Weatherford served as the punter for the New York Jets in 2009 and 2010. Weatherford is a former co-record holder of most punts inside the 20 yard line (42, 2010).

French Football Federation Partner with KFC

The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced a partnership with restaurant chain, anesthetist KFC.

The FFF have recently been on a commercial recruitment drive recently ahead of the organisation hosting UEFA Euro 2016. In recent weeks they have partnered with Accor, medic Archos and PMU.
