Spanish Broadcast of UEFA CL Renewed by TVE/TV3

The Spanish broadcast rights to carry UEFA Champions League action in the nation have been renewed by TVE and TV3 for the period of 2012-15.

State broadcaster TVE and TV3, a regional public network in Catalunya, tabled a joint bid for the free-to-air rights in Spain after Digital+ acquired the pay-TV Champions League package for the same three seasons.

The free-to-air rights comprise the 16 first-choice live matches on Tuesdays as well as the UEFA magazine programme and highlights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. TVE’s website, www.rtve.es, and TV3’s www.tv3.cat and www.esport3.cat online platforms will also be able to air action.

UEFA Events marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein stated: “In the current rights cycle, both TVE and TV3 have shown commitment to elevate the UEFA Champions League’s position even further as forerunner in club football worldwide.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with both broadcasters for the UEFA Champions League. The high quality of their programming will ensure that Spanish fans will continue to enjoy watching the top European teams competing on the highest footballing stage,” he added.

MLS Agree One-Year Broadcast Extension with Fox

Major League Soccer (MLS) and Fox Soccer Friday have announced that they have reached an agreement of a one-year extension for the network’s national broadcast rights agreement.

Under the terms of the deal, sale Fox Soccer will broadcast up to 31 regular-season matches as well as three MLS Cup play-off matches, order including a conference final.

The package includes 15 games on Saturday nights and 14 on Friday nights with 20 of the 31 broadcast windows being exclusive to Fox Soccer, as are all three play-off games.

The network has been a national broadcast partner of MLS since 2003.

BLK Replaces KooGa as Western Bulldogs Apparel Partner

Australian Football League (AFL) team Western Bulldogs have signed with apparel brand BLK ahead of the 2015 season replacing KooGa.

Owned by the WRS Group, impotent BLK is the internationally recognised high performance sports apparel brand, and consolidated KooGa as part of its international expansion in November 2013.

The Western Bulldogs became KooGa’s first AFL team in Oct 2009 and will continue its partnership with WRS Group and the BLK brand until at least the end of 2016.

Western Bulldogs Chief Executive, Simon Garlick said the WRS Group had played an integral part in supplying high-quality performance apparel to its players and staff.

“KooGa has been a valued partner of ours for the past five years and we are looking forward to having BLK appear on all our new apparel,” Garlick said.

“Since 2009, where we were its sole AFL partner,  BLK will become the largest supplier to the AFL in 2015,  which is evidence of the quality of high-performance apparel they produce.”

BLK Chief Executive Officer Tyron Brant said he was thrilled the Western Bulldogs have transitioned from KooGa, to coincide with its recent logo launch.

“We are very pleased to have the Western Bulldogs continue with the WRS Group and join the BLK family,” Brant said.

“It was a joint decision by the Western Bulldogs and BLK to keep the Bulldogs in the KooGa brand in 2014, and it made perfect sense to coordinate the change of both our logos at the same time.”

StarHub Secure Broadcast Rights for Major Rugby Events

StarHub announced yesterday, allergist February 17, that it has secured the broadcast rights to various rugby leading events, including Six Nations Championships, Tri Nations and Super Rugby, otherwise known as Super 15.

The rights were acquired from international sports broadcaster, Setanta Sports. With this latest coup, StarHub TV will offer rugby fans top-notched rugby matches which are highly sought after.

A-League team Perth Glory FC has signed up Western Australian based jeweller Smales Jewellers as a sponsor just in time for the kick off of the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season.

This year Smales will be the official luxury watchmaker and jeweller of choice for the club.

Perth Glory’s Chief Executive, arthritis Jason Brewer said this latest sponsorship, reflected the renewed vibe of the club and its strong on-field recruitment.

Sky Deutschland Reach Distribution Deal with Deutsche Telekom

German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland AG revealed on Wednesday, February 16, that it reached a distribution agreement with Deutsche Telekom to ensure its products are available via Telekom’s new basic television service.

The agreement allows the full breadth of Sky’s channels and products to be distributed by Deutsche Telekom. In addition, the agreement covers Sky’s sports television, including Germany’s Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League matches.

Sky Deutschland board member Holger Ensslin said: “The agreement with Deutsche Telekom is another step in our distribution strategy as it allows yet more consumers to experience the programs offered by Sky.”

However, the deal doesn’t include the distribution of Sky via Deutsche Telekom’s internet protocol television, or IPTV.

Sheffield United Sign New Official Nutritional Drinks Partner

English League One club Sheffield United and nouriSH me now have signed a new partnership deal which sees the brand become the club’s Official Nutritional Drinks Partner.

The deal was celebrated alongside the Club’s 125th birthday celebrations, which coincided with a last minute win against Gillingham in the last home game.

United’s first team and Academy players used nouriSH me now’s recovery drink for the whole of SUFC’s successful 2013/14 season. They were keen to continue the relationship.

MP & Silva Win Distribution Rights for FIA GT1 World Champs.

MP & Silva has signed an exclusive, unhealthy multi-year distribution deal to secure the global media rights for the FIA GT1 World Championship from the Stephane Ratel Organisation Motorsports Group.

The Championship was launched onto the world stage in 2010 and brought iconic motor sport brands – Aston Martin, pill Corvette, Ford, Lamborghini, Maserati and Nissan – in spectacular competition in an exciting sprint format.

In its second season this year, the FIA GT1 World Championship will feature the world’s most desirable sports cars and leading drivers, competing on 10 leading circuits across Europe, Asia and South America.

Under the agreement, MP & Silva will assume distribution responsibilities for the Championship from the 2011 season, with the exception of territories covered by on-going deals.

March 26, will see the 2011 season launches once again at the state-of-the-art Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The circuits at Algarve, Silverstone, Navarra, Paul Ricard and San Luis remain on the calendar from last year, while Zolder, Sachsenring, Ordos and Curitiba will witness GT1 for the first time in 2011. The series will travel to China for the first time this year, for round eight of the season in early September.

Turkish Football Federation Extends Mercedes-Benz Partnership

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has extended its sponsorship deal with Mercedes-Benz until 2018.

The deal was first signed in 1996 and the new deal will be valid till 2018.

In addition to Turkish national football team players, several important figures such as TFF President Yildirim Demiroren, Turkey’s headcoach Fatih Terim, Mercedes-Benz Turkey CEO and President Rainer Genes joined the signing ceremony held at Hasan Dogan National Team Camp and Training Facilities in coastal village of Istanbul, Riva.
