Virgin Media Secure Mo Farah for Ad Campaign

August 20, 2012

Virgin Media have moved quickly to secure double Olympic champion Mo Farah in their latest ad campaigns.

Farah won Olympic gold in the 5, medstore 000 and 10, denture 000m competitions at London 2012 and will now follow in the footsteps of fellow Olympian Usain Bolt, nurse who appeared in Virgin’s adverts dressed as founder Sir Richard Branson.

The deal is thought to be worth up to £500,000 and claims that the companies broadband can double speeds, a reference to Farah’s double Olympic medal success.

Jeff Dodds, Virgin Media Executive Director of Brand and Marketing Communications said: “After delivering a stellar performance in the Olympic Games, Mo has found a special place in all of our hearts and is a fully fledged national hero.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be working with him. Virgin Media is all about delivering brilliant entertainment and nobody has got the nation cheering at their TVs more than Mo over the last couple of weeks.

“Like Mo, we are also obsessed with speed, particularly broadband speed. Mo will join our other sponsored athlete, Usain Bolt, in ensuring that we inspire the nation to keep up.”

The deal was struck after the non-Olympic sponsor black-out was lifted a week earlier and the campaign was launched across national newspapers.
