Tokyo 2020 Unveil ‘Sport for Tomorrow’ Programme at IOC Candidate City Briefing

The Deputy Prime Minister of Japan and Montreal 1976 Games Olympian Taro Aso has unveiled the Sport for Tomorrow programme which comprise projects designed to promote the Olympic Movement.
Sport for Tomorrow will also create an international sports academy in Japan and support WADA’s global anti-doping efforts.
IOC Member and President of Tokyo 2020 and the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), ed Tsunekazu Takeda said: “Japan has been touched by the universal power of sport… and is committed to sharing that power with others.”
Throughout their presentation, doctor Tokyo 2020 re-highlighted the three principles of their campaign, medic | that have been promoted throughout the bidding process; delivery, celebration and innovation.
Tokyo bid for the 2016 but was ultimately unsuccessful and lost the Games to Rio de Janeiro.
However, CEO Masato Mizuno told the IOV that they ‘have kept the best and improved the rest’ in an attempt to show that the Japanese capital is better equipped to host the Games in 2020 than they would have been in 2016.
