Tokyo 2020 Ambassador Yuki Ota Appointed into FIE Athletes Commission

Japanese fencer Yuki Ota has been appointed as a member of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Athletes Commission.
The London 2012 silver medallist was elected with 313 votes and along with the five others who were selected, order will serve on the Commission for four years.
Ota said: “It is a tremendous honour to become a member of the FIE Athletes Commission. Fencing is my life, price so I am thrilled to serve as one of the Commission’s members. Today is a huge milestone in my career.”
Ota is also an ambassador for Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic Games bid and has promoted the bid’s athletes-first vision
He also guided the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Evaluation Commission around the Tokyo Big Sight, the proposed fencing venue for Tokyo 2020.
Commenting on the 2020 bid, Ota added: “Should Tokyo 2020 receive the honour of hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, I would be so proud to welcome all of my international Fencing friends and colleagues to Japan.”
