The Forest Score with the New York Cosmos

July 24, 2013

Trans-Atlantic design agengy, The Forest Studio, have been working with the New York Cosmos for the last 5 months on various projects including the members club identity, 2013 season tickets & accompanying packaging.

The Cosmos are returning after a 30-year absence from the game, and The Forest Studio has been on-side by designing a suite of branded materials for their return.

The New York Cosmos rose to fame in the 1970s, when international stars such as Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer joined the team, winning a total of five championships.

Season tickets and packaging The Forest has designed the 2013 season tickets, which feature images of past Cosmos heroes and has created presentation packaging which features a surpise soccer field once opened.

Karl Hudson, Global Creative Director at The Forest says, “The box was produced to send out season tickets and other goodies including supporters’ scarves and booklets to fans.’
‘The bottom of the box is a soccer field and the sides are shots from the original Cosmos games at Giant Stadium.”

Club 71

Club 71 is the top-level season ticket, which will give privileges to fans like securing seats for the 2013 & 2014 seasons.

The name Club 71 was inspired by the original Studio 54 nightclub based in NY in the 70s/80s.

The club was founded in 1971, hence the Cosmos are keen to hold onto their heritage,’ says Hudson.

“The New York Cosmos needed a creative agency that understands what we are about. Karl and the team at The Forest passionately continue to deliver fantastic results that appeal to both our fans and commercial partners.” said Erik Stover, Chief Operating Officer, New York Cosmos.

The New York Cosmos begin their return in August when they enter America’s second tier of soccer – The North American Soccer League (NASL), with their opening game on Aug. 3 at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium versus the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
