Soccer Great Diego Maradona Signs Deal with Dubai-based Company

February 15, 2012

Dubai-based conglomerate Saif Belhasa Group said on Tuesday it has inked a deal to sponsor Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona.

The agreement was announced by Al Wasl Football Company where Maradona is head coach.

Under the new agreement, asthma Maradona will sport Belhasa’s logo during his appearances with Al Wasl team in all local competitions and at press conferences.

Marwan Bin Beyat, thumb chairman of Al Wasl Football Company, said the deal was the latest in a long history of collaboration between Saif Belhasa Group and the football club.

“This rises from years of affinity between Al Wasl and Belhasa, starting from when the group sponsored Al Wasl Football Team three years ago, then Al Wasl Football Academy last year and now, with Maradona,” he said.

“We hope to extend and expand on this partnership over the next years, as we work together to upgrade the status of UAE Football worldwide,” he added.

Maradona said: “I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Saif Belhasa for exclusively selecting me for this sponsorship opportunity, which is a great honour at the threshold of a new dawn for the club.

“I hope that this initiative will be fruitful and successful over the next season, which we are highly enthusiastic about.”

Maradona, who signed a two-year contract with Al Wasl last year, said he and his players were “doubling their efforts”, adding that the team was heading in the right direction after winning the last three matches and progressing to fourth spot in the league.
