Samurai Japan launch Snapchat account with Tagboard

Samurai Japan, Japan’s national baseball team, have launched their official Snapchat account and partnered with Tagboard. Samurai Japan’s Snapchat account this week to showcase Snapchat content curated by social media aggregator Tagboard in the Tokyo Dome – for the first time in a stadium in Asia.
“Samurai Japan is all about being innovative and offering the latest, cutting-edge technology to fans in an effort to make the game’s experience more exciting.Together with Snapchat and Tagboard, we are showcasing new and dynamic content while deepening fan engagement,” said Kenjiro Kato, Senior Manager of Business Operations and Public Relations at NPB Enterprise, the company that manages Samurai Japan.
“Sports teams and athletes around the globe have used Snapchat to brings fans closer than ever before – whether it’s training for a big game, celebrating a win, or just having fun with their teammates,” said Ben Schwerin, Director of Partnerships, Snap Inc. “We’re so excited to have one of the world’s best baseball teams, Samurai Japan, on board.”
Samurai Japan has been a digital pioneer in the sports market in Asia and initially partnered with Tagboard in March 2015 to display social content on their website as well as in live displays across the stadium. Tagboard made its Tokyo Dome debut during a Samurai Japan exhibition game vs. the European All-Stars.
“We’ve seen sports fans embrace social media during games, and it’s an honor to help bring Snapchat to the Tokyo Dome,” said Tagboard CEO Josh Decker. “The faces of Samurai Japan fans will light up when they see their favorite team in a new way, through Snapchat.”
The Tokyo Dome will host approximately 42,000 fans at each game during this weekend’s tournament.
Tagboard has previously enhanced the user experience for sports fans in the United States by bringing Snapchat content to displays at NFL, MLB, and college football stadiums. Partnerships include the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Mariners, and UCLA.
