Mediaset Gets Spanish Broadcast Rights to Formula E Championship

September 11, 2014

Mediaset, Spain’s largest television network, has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to the FIA Formula E Championship for the 2014/2015 season.

The first race will be broadcast live and in full on Saturday 13 September with the veteran director of the Telecinco programme ’Mas que coches’ Gonzalo Serrano providing the race commentary.

Mediaset’s Gonzalo Serrano said: “In my opinion Formula E is a 21st century championship that gives birth to a different kind of racing, focusing on sustainability and technology. The races will be held on temporary street tracks in some of the most important cities in the world. We will have highlights in ‘Mas que coches GT’ and in ‘Mas que coches’, with all the information about the series.”

Ali Russell, Director of Media at Formula E, added: “With two Spanish drivers competing in the series, Spain is a key market for us and we’re delighted to be able to announce this deal today. Despite being just under two days to go, we still have further deals to announce alongside our growing list of confirmed rights holders.”
