Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Executive will support Formula E’s marketing strategy with a focus on marketing planning and operations, brand campaign execution, talent and activations. 

We are positioned for growth, focusing on building our direct to fan proposition alongside a powerful platform for Partners, Teams and Manufacturers. Working collaboratively with other Formula E departments and global agency partners, you will play a key part in delivering best-in-class campaigns to support our growth ambition. 

Key Deliverables

Implement global and local marketing activity, while maintaining high standards and delivering against our KPI’s

Delivering on both a tactical and operational level you’ll work across paid, event and digital marketing, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure effectiveness and excellence in all activities. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Marketing Planning and Operations 

  • Act as Studio Manager for the Video Creative Editor, ensuring projects are well briefed, reviewed and delivered on time.
  • Work horizontally across the team to plan distribution and amplification of content, whilst maximising the impact of our assets.
  • Collaboration with the Design and Content teams, partners and wider ecosystem on the development and timely approval of assets.
  • Manage the process for the wider brand and marketing team to submit and track POs, ensuring timely payment is made to suppliers.
  • Work cross-functionally with Event Experience, CRM, Gaming, Merchandise and Commercial teams, ensuring regular and accurate information flow.
  • Deliver regular reporting documents including post-event campaign reports and evaluation of brand campaigns.

Brand Campaigns

  • Develop marketing tactics to support brand awareness, broadcast tune-in and fan growth.
  • Supporting across consumer partnerships and develop mutual activation tactics to drive awareness and engagement of our brand.
  • Nurture external relationships with agency partners, racing teams, championship sponsors.

Talent and Influencer

  • Support the Talent and Influencer Managers with execution and delivery of their programmes. Includes contract negotiation, budget management, arranging travel and logistics, on-site talent hosting, reporting, identifying promotional opportunities and partner integration. 

Activations

  • Develop creative concepts and see through to production with activations in race cities.
  • Identifying new and innovative ways to bring the brand to life, connecting with a local and global audience.

Requirements:

Educational Attainment

  • A degree in a relevant field will be useful but is not a mandatory requirement. 

Knowledge Required

  • Understand the creative process from conception through to production

Experience Required 

  • Experience of working for a challenging brand or for a sports right holder will be beneficial.
  • Proven experience working in marketing, either for a brand or agency. 

Skills and Aptitudes Required

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work under minimum supervision to strict deadlines and to be able to quickly adapt to changing business needs.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and without reliance on structure. 

Interests

  • Knowledge of motorsport is not a core requirement but passion for the consumer/fan is.

Your role

As our Gaming Product Manager, you will be involved in one of the most exciting areas of growth for Formula E. Currently in our eighth season of the sport, gaming provides an amazing opportunity for us to engage existing and new fans through innovative products and activations.

The successful candidate will be required to develop relationships with Formula E’s current and future gaming partners. They will be central to the ongoing development and execution of the gaming strategy and roadmap; working with developers and publishers to integrate Formula E’s IP into video game titles and other opportunities in the space. The role will also have a focus on our Accelerate esports proposition and events; both at-events and online. This person will serve as the point of contact between Formula E and our gaming and esports partners.

The role will be responsible for coordinating promotion and marketing of all gaming products and esports events; ensuring maximum reach and awareness amongst the existing Formula E fanbase and new audience segments, driving acquisition for our owned and operated digital platforms. This will involve working collaboratively with internal teams to coordinate content creation and distribution.

What you will be doing

Managing the roadmap for gaming and esports projects, ensuring that they meet fan expectations and continue to evolve in line with industry changes and internal strategic developments. Delivering regular status reports and escalating challenges as appropriate.

At-event:

Oversight of Gaming Arena, including:

  • Managing technical support staff
  • Accelerate activations
  • Maximising fan participation
  • Influencer engagement

Management of new and existing gaming partners:

  • Work with current partners to manage their IP requirements
  • Push gaming partners to feature FE integrations through competitions/exposure within the game
  • Sync marketing, PR and comms across FE and gaming partners
  • Proactively engage new partners that can help us meet our objectives
  • Support in commercial and contract negotiations

Simulator business:

  • Develop strong supplier relationships for top-of-the-line gaming simulator equipment
  • Support the external and internal hire/purchase of simulators for events
  • Develop business proposition for simulator rental

Esports:

  • Own esports racing product development including product design, sourcing and management of partners and business model development
  • Work closely with external agency teams to execute on agreed approach; coordinating weekly status meetings and delivering monthly reports to senior management
  • Responsible for regular reporting on all Formula E digital channels, working in-hand with internal teams to make appropriate recommendations.

What we are looking for

Educational attainment:

  • A relevant degree is desirable

Professional Membership:

  • A recognised Project Management qualification (e.g. Prince 2, PMI) would be an advantage

Knowledge required:

  • Knowledge and a passion for video games and esports

Experience:

  • Experience of managing multiple projects from strategic conception to execution and analysis
  • Experience in delivering events to a high standard, on time and to budget
  • Ability to develop comprehensive marketing and promotional plans to deliver gaming or esports products and/or events
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is desirable

Skills and aptitudes:

  • The ability to collaborate effectively across business functions to understand and prioritise varying product requirements
  • Empathy and flexibility to work in an international environment and amongst a diverse international workforce
  • Competency in MS Office suite

Head Of Event Operations – Formula 1

About The Role

At F1, we are continually driving further to deliver the same end goal; to unleash the greatest racing spectacle on the planet.

So that we can reach these elite-level standards, Formula 1 are seeking a Head of Event Operations to provide strategic oversight for all aspects of Grand Prix delivery across all circuit venues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As Head of Event Operations, you will be leading the team to deliver the operational plan, development, and ongoing management of F1 suppliers at Grand Prix races.

This will include input and coordination into circuit design, build & layout, venue overlay, permitting, partner activations, experience activations, promoter co-ordination, safety and security.

You will also be responsible for coordinating and communicating with relevant F1 departments to ensure a fully integrated approach to Grand Prix delivery, as well as liaising with F1 functions and race promoters to ensure of a successful Grand Prix production which is to global standards on event delivery and event fan experience management.

Permanent communication with F1 internal stakeholders will be another responsibility in this role so that, when necessary, you can adapt for specific experience and client requirements and to support commercial revenue streams across each grand prix.

About You

For this role, you must have a minimum education level of a BA/BS Degree. Having extensive experience in a related role and environment would also be essential as Head of Events.

Previous senior leadership would also be beneficial for this role, being able to serve as a proactive and decisive leader with excellent communication skills and a strategic mindset.

You must have the ability to manage activities within the functional area and make independent decisions using sound judgment.

As the Head of Events flexibility will be vital as you will often be working evenings, weekends and holidays. There will also be a lot of travelling involved within this role.

Finally, knowledge of the sports and live entertainment industry would put you at an advantage for this role.

  • Support Account Marketing/Regional teams as they brief in and execute Key Account Initiatives or other Regional needs.
  • Partner management Marketing- Provide coordination and partnership with our Licensed partners on a commercial and Sports marketing level in defining the strategy for use of PUMA ambassadors.
  • Manage and develop the BU franchise products communication strategy over multiple seasons.
  • Ensure that the Central Marketing team and local/regional markers are updated regarding the competitive landscape of their respective category.
  • KPI Tracking – Responsible for the KPI tracking of BU Marketing initiatives, in collaboration with Consumer and Commercial Central Marketing.
  • Sell In- Brief the Commercial Marketing teams in the seasonal Sell-In tool creation process; responsible for defining and developing presentation tools such as videos, presentations and visual communication tools.

YOUR TALENT:

  • 8 plus years of experience in a Marketing role, ideally 3 years in a core strategic Marketing role
  • Direct experience working in a product creation environment, demonstrated understanding of the seasonal briefing processes
  • Advertising or agency experience a plus
  • Experience working in a matrix organization strongly preferred
  • Ability to influence without direct authority, collaborate and negotiate with internal customers
  • Strong presentation and business acumen skills required;
  • Proven skills in Excel, Powerpoint, budget management
  • Experience in working with consumer facing products, in the sports industry a plus
