Business Development Lead – NBA Nigeria

NBA Nigeria is seeking an experienced sales/marketing professional for the New Business Development team. This position plays a key role in generating new sponsorship revenue for NBA Nigeria.

The ideal candidate must be a dynamic team player, with excellent storytelling, communication, and negotiation skills. The successful candidate will be implementing the new business development strategy with a focus on new partnership development – prospecting, pitching, negotiating and securing new marketing partners. The role will require frequent travel throughout the region and will work closely with the Marketing, Media, Events, and other groups to create and drive new revenue streams.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the business development strategy for NBA Nigeria
  • Build relationships with senior-level decision makers at prospective sponsors, relevant marketing agencies, event management companies, and promoters to generate new partners and other new business opportunities.
  • Manage the sales process from proposal to deal memo submission and contract execution by liaising with other departments (Legal, Finance, etc.)
  • Adapt current NBA marketing programs and create new initiatives tailored to NBA Nigeria
  • Maintain a database of highly valuable targets and opportunities
  • Monitor the activity of other sports and entertainment properties in the region.
  • Prospect, target, pitch and secure NBA Nigeria sponsorship, event and media partnerships.
  • Develop and maximize networking opportunities with potential and existing sponsors and relevant marketing agencies
  • Understand the prospect’s brand DNA and design sales presentations to reflect brand synergies and positioning.
  • Deliver impactful on-brand and on-target partnership programs for new business prospects.
  • Use storytelling to effectively sell-in partnership ideas to new business prospects.
  • Develop, visualize and present customized partnership solutions for prospective sponsors.
  • Facilitate ideation by leading cross-functional brainstorms to inform creative solutions
  • Liaise with colleagues globally across the NBA to uncover business development opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry marketing channels and technologies that clients may utilize in activating an NBA Nigeria sponsorship.

Internal Partnerships:

  • Establish and develop close relationships with all the NBA NY global account teams, ensuring that they are proactively informed about all the NBA NIGERIA plans, initiatives, and projects.
  • Develop and execute a detailed and coherent plan focused on engaging the NBA NY global account teams with exciting and consistent presentations, aiming to get them on board with all the NBA NIGERIA plans, initiatives and projects so those can be considered as key components for all global or regional new partnership opportunities and upsells.
  • Represent the NBA NIGERIA in global pitches and status meetings, providing relevant information and insights about the NBA NIGERIA’s plans, initiatives and projects, while also outlining clearly how current and potential global partners would receive value through those.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Successful track record building business in Nigeria; must have a strong understanding of the market and a network of relationships across all sectors of Nigeria’s marketing and media landscape.
  • Creative storyteller with the ability to sell conceptually.
  • High-level connectivity – client-side and sponsorship/marketing community in general.

Position Summary:

This cross-functional position will report to the Global Strategy and Innovation team with the mission to discover, inspire and engage fans around the world. The role’s goal will be to work together with the growing Fan Acquisition and Engagement team at the WNBA who works to enhance the fan experience, improve internal processes to make CRM and digital marketing efforts more efficient, expand the overall WNBA fanbase, and acquire and optimize fan data.The technical program manager will be responsible for the acquisition and governance of WNBA fan data with the goal of maximizing the league’s opportunities to connect directly with, and personalize communications to, their fanbase. This role will lead the direction of quality and standards of fan data by strategically building out the WNBA data infrastructure, making sure the league is able to properly collect and activate upon the league’s new and existing fans. This role requires a high level of technical expertise with a nuanced understanding of our technical platforms (particularly our email service provider, Braze) and data strategy, including coding, API management, and ticket creation. This is a rare opportunity as the solutions you help develop and deploy will have a real and immediate impact on both the league’s fans and internal business operations.

Major Responsibility:

  • Lead day-to-day management of data cleansing, data entry, accuracy, validation, and data integrity
  • Write technical requirements to build compliant, quality-driven incoming data pipelines for new WNBA projects and initiatives, with a focus on data feed ingestion
  • Build out in-depth technical documentation around the WNBA’s core marketing technologies with an emphasis on ensuring data quality
  • Heavy focus on Braze technical integrations (APIs, SDKs) for larger initiatives and lead gen campaigns, as well as continually monitoring integrations that were previously built
  • Serve as subject matter expert on fan data in Braze including profile fields, attributes, events, etc.
  • Draft data requests for various deals, implement into contracts, then ensure critical legal and business rules are met within all user-level data integrations across web, app, OTT, and data warehouse properties
  • Handle DSAR/GDPR/CCPA privacy implementation issues, working closely with league’s privacy lawyers
  • Develop a deep understanding of the WNBA’s fan marketing initiatives and priorities, in order to best understand what categories of fan data and data streams to prioritize

Required Skills/Knowledge: 

  • 5+ years of experience in a stakeholder and/or analytically driven role (Data analyst, Technical product manager, Engineer, etc.)
  • Experience working with web/app MarTech vendors (Particularly Braze)
  • General prior coding experience in any language
  • Experience working with SQL databases and APIs
  • Experience particularly in working in JIRA OR other project management software
  • Comfort with ambiguity in data and experience in working with partners to optimize third-party data streams
  • Excellent critical thinking with creative solutions to overcome challenges and meet business requirements

Position Summary:

The Digital Content Development Manager will work closely with NBA content partners in the development and distribution of content that will drive the subscriber acquisition goals of NBA digital products (DTC). The role will create a cohesive consumer experience by facilitating the development and planning of a mix of internally generated content, original source creative, and community content.

Major Responsibility:

  • Develop content franchises for the NBA App and NBA.com, aligning with internal and Warner Media Discovery Sports personnel on content development process, distribution, and promotion.

Part of the team within the Legal Department responsible for a variety of intellectual property matters related to the NBA and its affiliated leagues, with a focus on the enforcement of IP rights on digital platforms.

Major Responsibility:

  • Primary responsibility is to assist in overseeing digital enforcement of the NBA’s intellectual property rights globally, including: Content anti-piracy enforcement 
  • Enforcement against unauthorized live streaming and unauthorized use of NBA content on social media and other digital platforms and apps 
  • Drafting and submitting IP infringement notices regarding pirated content to digital platforms, including social media and mobile app platforms 
  • Search engine delisting of links to unauthorized content 
  • Working across the organization and with outside vendors to identify strategic piracy targets for investigation and action 
  • Preparing regular content anti-piracy enforcement and trend reports and presentations 
  • Brand protection enforcement 
  • Coordinating anti-counterfeiting investigations of global e-commerce platforms and sellers 
  • Drafting and submitting IP infringement notices to e-commerce websites and platforms regarding the distribution of counterfeit and unlicensed merchandise and the unauthorized use of NBA trademarks 
  • Tracking and conducting necessary follow-up on takedown requests to ensure compliance 
  • Evaluating and managing third-party technology vendors, investigators and law firms who provide IP enforcement services 
  • Providing advice and support in connection with various other IP enforcement matters (e.g., domain name disputes, ambush marketing)

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve successful sales revenue goals including full suite lease sales, and hospitality packages
  • Assist in the planning, development, and activation of selling multi-year premium product offerings
  • Plan and implement all outbound sales efforts, including sales campaigns, sales events, seller & buyer incentives
  • Negotiate and complete all contracts to ensure all deliverables are met
  • Build new prospects by consistently networking and actively making sales calls to new clients
  • Administer all formal updates and communication regarding sales process, client retention and changes with new and current clients
  • Maintain a detailed client base and build reports on key sales results and quotas
  • Collaborate with the team to craft marketing and promotional packages that will grow client database and revenue

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration/Sports Management, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years in B2B ticket, suite, or sponsorship sales in sports and entertainment industry highly preferred; 1-2 years leading sales teams
  • Experience closing new six and seven figure, multi-year deals
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to conduct and lead sales presentations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce CRM and HVS, a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and resolution skills; Ability to influence C-level clients
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with clients and peers at all levels within an organization and throughout the community
  • Flexibility with changing priorities; ability to organize and prioritize workload

Partnerships Manager – ITF

The ITF boasts a high profile set of partners including Microsoft, NEC, UNIQLO, Rolex, Tory Burch, Gainbridge and many more – giving exposure to major global blue-chip companies and some of the biggest brand investors in sport. 

The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for managing the delivery of key ITF Partnerships with focus on achieving exceptional satisfaction rates. There will also be a requirement to play an important role in sales processes – helping to secure new partners, supporting with renewals and upsells. Ideally candidates will have experience in global rights management and/ or sales at a sports rightsholder or agency, with a desire to widen their commercial experience to include both partnership management and sales.

This is a fantastic opportunity to help deliver and sell major partnerships for one of the biggest global sports and will suit a pro-active and motivated individual with excellent project management and interpersonal skills. Evidence of building strong and trusted working relationships is highly important as this role will require working collaboratively with different teams across the business as well as partners. International travel to venues and to visit clients will be required.

Responsibilities:

Partner Management:

  • Manage the day-to-day relationship and activation of strategic partners.

Global Partnerships, Associate Manager – NBA

This position will focus on the management of sponsorship partners, both at a local European level and global level. In addition, this position will compile all necessary data in order to analyse and review the use of media inventory by commercial partners across Europe. The position will be based in London with some travel within Europe.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Work with both local and global NBA marketing partners in the region, managing and supporting the delivery of all contractual rights e.g. media plans, social content, marketing campaigns and event activations
  • Create and maintain all working documents, e.g. partner status reports, event/campaign recaps
  • Work collaboratively with other internal NBA functions, both in this region and globally, to facilitate all rights delivery
  • Support the Senior Director of Global Partnerships with all upsells and renewals of your specific NBA marketing partners.
  • Work with both NY and local European media partners on a monthly basis to obtain all data related to the use of NBA owned media inventory
  • Create a monthly report analyzing the use of NBA owned media inventory

Required Skills/ Experience

  • A minimum of two years’ experience managing partnerships within sports, music or entertainment sector

Position Summary:

This position is part of a growing Growth Marketing team that strives to discover, inspire and engage fans worldwide. The CRM Growth Manager will work on email, in-app, in-browser, and push communication programs globally for NBA League Pass, NBA App, NBA ID (the NBA membership program), and other Direct to Consumer (DTC) initiatives. Successful candidates will have proven experience developing and optimizing multi-channel CRM programs that drive acquisition, cultivate engagement, and minimize churn.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with business leads to customize and optimize lifecycle marketing programs
  • Build and implement lifecycle/marketing automation campaigns that drive critical actions across the customer lifecycle, with a focus on email, push, in-browser, and in-app
  • Develop and implement marketing plans for the NBA subscription and membership programs across all CRM channels
  • Partner with team members across the organization to ensure that key initiatives and features are reflected in communications
  • Craft creative briefs and be responsible for the development and execution of marketing assets across multiple channels and properties, ensuring creative is on-strategy, on-brand, and routed appropriately for approval

  • Strong collaborator who can work effectively within a matrixed organization to influence and get results
  • Experience in marketing automation strategy with real-life examples of successful subscriber, revenue, and engagement growth at scale

  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation, behavior, and consumer insights
