Manager, Government & Community Relations – Los Angeles Dodgers

Overview:

The Manager, Government and Community Affairs, is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with elected officials and their staff members, residents, neighborhood organizations and businesses located within the immediate vicinity of Dodger Stadium and who may be directly affected by events taking place at Dodger Stadium.

Job Functions:

– Attend several local neighborhood committee meetings per month to hear from community stakeholders as well as provide updates from the Dodgers
– Interface and communicate with the local residents, neighborhood/community based organizations and staffs of local elected officials on a regular basis
– Serve as the primary liaison to inform neighbors and community stakeholders of issues related to Dodger Stadium that may impact their quality-of-life
– Organize and coordinate Dodgers community programs and initiatives 
– Support various community events for player, sponsors and MLB Community initiatives, such as the Community Tour, clinics for low-income/at-risk children, player programs, Dodgers Community of Schools, Jackie Robinson Day, etc.
– Assist the Vice President of External Affairs in supporting organizational and program innovations and developing strategies, systems and procedures to ensure Community Affairs Department relevance, quality and accountability
– Track legislation and public policy related to sports and recreation initiatives
– Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements/Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Political Science or a related field or a related field
– Minimum five years previous work experience in government and community relations, private sector or non-profit field preferred
– Strong working relationships in City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County and California State elected offices
– Goal oriented, self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to perform multiple projects in a fast paced environment
– Work experience in crisis communication
– Demonstrate innovative thinking/spirit
– Proficient in Microsoft Office
– Possess excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

– Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed

– Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preffered
