KV Racing’s De Silvestro Endorses Chevrolet at Geneva Auto Show

March 17, 2013

KV Racing Technology driver Simona De Silvestro was the Chevrolet brand ambassador for the European premiere of the new Spark EV at the Geneva Auto Show as part of her sponsorship deal with the car manufacturer.

“It was great having Simona at the Geneva Auto Show to assist with the European premiere of the new Chevrolet Spark EV,” says Beate Stumpe, Brand and Marketing Director, Chevrolet Europe. “Her passion for energy conservation coupled with the tremendous fan base she enjoys not only in Switzerland, but throughout Europe makes her a great ambassador for the Spark EV and the Chevrolet Volt. We look forward to having Simona join us for future promotions as we continue to build on Chevrolet’s commitment to cutting edge technology.”

De Silvestro, who drives a Volt when in the U.S., will be driving a Chevy-powered Indy car this season. This is her first season as part of the Chevy family and she’s excited about the opportunities that this new relationship gives her. “It was a really good experience being with Chevrolet at the auto show here in my hometown,” she said. “I really enjoyed working with them this week and had a lot of fun introducing the Spark EV to Europe. It’s great having Chevy as a partner. I look forward to working with them both on and off the track this season.”

KV Racing Technology team owner, Imran Safiulla, was on hand all week at the motor show. He thinks the partnership with Chevy is a natural fit for the team and its energy based sponsors. “Sustainable mobility is in the best interest of everyone; our future depends on companies like Chevrolet coming up with innovative alternatives to the use of fossil fuels,” he said. “Racing is in essence a high-tech lab used to develop new technologies that can further advances at the consumer level and Chevrolet has proven themselves to be a top competitor both on and off the track. Their successes on the race-track and in their innovative line of low-emission vehicles made them an obvious choice for us. We’re extremely proud to have Chevrolet as our partner in the IZOD IndyCar Series.”
