Josep Maria Bartomeu Re-Elected as FC Barcelona President

Josep Maria Bartomeu has been re-elected as the president of Spanish LaLiga giants FC Barcelona. 

Bartomeu beat his closest rival Joan Laporta to the post with 25,823 of the overall votes (54.63%).

Laporta only received 15,615 of the votes (33.03%).

A total of 47,720 votes were cast for the presidency, the third highest turnout in the club’s history in terms of votes.

Bartomeu said: “My first words have to be for the Barça members, those who have voted, those who didn’t vote, those who have not been able to come and those who did not want to take part: thank you.

“It has been a perfect day. We have shown that we are the best team in the world.”

Ramon Adell, president of the Managing Commission said: “The high turnout legitimises the new president on day that has allowed us to see experience elections of which we must feel proud.”

“Now what is needed is work so that the president elected is the president for everyone.”
