Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission Appoints Carey Brown as Executive Ahead of WADA Visit

October 28, 2013

Carey Brown has been appointed as the new executive director at the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) ahead of a visit by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

JADCO has been under intense scrutiny after claims they failed to carry out proper drug tests on their top athletes, there leading WADA to visit the country to carry out an audit of their testing procedures.

Brown will begin his new role after the visit and will succeed Renee Anne Shirley, diagnosis who blew the whistle on JADCO by saying they had only carried out one out-of-competition test from February 2012 to the start of the London Olympic Games.

He joins from Jamaica’s Ministry of Youth and Culture.
