IOC President Pleased With Nanjing 2014 Preparations

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge has praised the preparations for the Nanjing 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games, anesthetist following a meeting with the Games’ organising committee.
Rogge met with senior executives of the organising committee as well as volunteers and junior consutants during a visit to Nanjing, a city in the east of China.
He also toured the Youth Olympic Village, where 4000 athletes and team officials will be staying. The construction of the Village is ahead of schedule and is being conducted in an environmentally friendly manner. After the Games it will become a neighbourhood, complete with apartments a school and a kindergarten.
The IOC President said: “Thanks to the tremendous efforts of the talented NYOGOC team, impressive progress has been made. I am in absolutely no doubt that the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games will be a great success and inspire young people from the city, nation, and around the world to become more active in sport.”
The inaugural Youth Games was held in Singapore in 2010. The 2014 Games are expected to feature around 3800 athletes between the ages 14-18 in 28 events.
