Indian Amateur Boxing Federation Suspended by AIBA

December 7, 2012

The Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF) have been suspended by the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Executive Committee Bureau following International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) decision to suspend the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).

This provisional suspension is also due to the fact that AIBA had learned about possible manipulation of the recent IABF’s election. AIBA will now investigate this election and especially a potential political link between IOA President, as former Chairman of the IABF, and the IABF election.

Chautala is the chairman of the boxing body and was elected president of the IOA in elections Wednesday that the IOC declared ”null and void.”

The government also said it also doesn’t recognize the Archery Federation of India because it ignored age and tenure restrictions in electing 81-year-old Vijay Kumar Malhotra to a 10th term as president. Malhotra was the acting president of the IOA before the elections.
