Head of Women’s Tournaments – FIFA

Your Duties

  • Managing the Women’s Tournaments department: establishing appropriate operational and reporting structures as well as effective workflow processes with Local Organising Committees (LOCs); recruiting, training and leading staff within the department; ensuring that the agreed project plans are implemented according to the set milestones and business plans; ensuring that the projects are delivered within the agreed budget; implementing the general administration, reporting, knowledge management and debriefing processes to ensure knowledge transfer and the maintenance or improvement of quality for future competitions
  • Organisation of all FIFA’s Women’s Tournaments and their ancillary Events: ensuring the appropriate hosting conditions are provided in collaboration with Women’s Football Division, host associations, LOCs, stadium/venue owners, local authorities and third-party entities; continuously reviewing and making recommendations to improve the requirements and regulations of all relevant Tournaments; assuming ownership and therefore key coordination role on all matters between FIFA, host associations, LOCs and third-party entities to achieve unified on-site operations and planning; acting as key point of contact for Director Tournaments and actively collaborating with internal and external partners; sharing responsibility with other divisions for the overall results and proactively finding compromises, efficiency measures and synergies with other divisions; overseeing and integrating the Women’s Football Project Plans in order to ensure the requirements of all relevant stakeholders are aligned for each Competition

Our Requirements

  • Business fluency in English (oral and written); German, French and/or Spanish are a significant asset
  • 8+ years’ proven experience in sports event management and operations
  • Strong knowledge of business management and sports event management
  • Proven experience in leading a team of direct subordinates in a multicultural international environment
  • Experience in budgeting and controlling
  • Ability to effectively monitor organisational performance and implement decisive corrective actions
  • Ability to motivate and mentor managers and employees and to provide continuity and succession planning for all critical positions
  • Capacity to make key decisions and to communicate them both inside and outside the organisation
  • Critical problem-solving skills and an ability to use sound judgment
  • High energy level, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective negotiation skills and positive relationship management skills
  • Passion for delivering global football events
  • Willingness to live in Switzerland and to travel based on business requirements
