HBO & Showtime Team up to Broadcast Mayweather-Pacquiao Bout

American cable networks HBO and Showtime have joined forces to broadcast the hugely anticipated pay-per-view boxing encounter between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

The fight was made official by Mayweather on Friday and will take place in Las Vegas on 2nd May.

Both networks agreed to jointly broadcast the fight as Mayweather is contracted to Showtime and Pacquaio to HBO.

Ken Hershman HBO Sports President Said: “Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have been the two most prominent fighters in the sport of boxing for the past decade, therapy and fight fans around the world have been clamoring for them to face each other.

“May 2nd will be a signature moment for the sport of boxing, diagnosis and HBO Sports is thrilled to be a part of this spectacular event.”

Stephen Espinoza, EVP & General Manager of Showtime Sports, said in a statement: “Everyone involved, including Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, knows this fight simply had to happen.

“Now, for the second time under his current deal with Showtime Networks, Floyd Mayweather has agreed to fight an opponent that many people thought he’d never face.”
