Glasgow 2014 Employ New Games Time Delivery Director

Glasgow 2014 has appointed Australian Jacqui Murdoch as its director of Games time delivery, they announced today.
Murdoch has been connected to major events since 2000 when she was the venue manager for beach volleyball at the Sydney Olympics. She has also worked for Vancouver 2010, where she was the vice-president Games services and accommodation at the Winter Olympics and Paralympics.
Murdoch has also worked on the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games respectively, working as the deputy director sport and venues at Manchester and as the general manager, venues and overlay in Melbourne.
She also worked as a consultant for London 2012, where she was an expert advisor for venue planning, and most recently Rio 2016, where she advised on Games strategy and governance.
Her responsibility in Glasgow will involve her overseeing the management of all Games time delivery functional areas, including ensuring the areas of family relations, services, sport, venues and Athletes’ Village and volunteering are all developed and ready to be delivered in July 2014.
David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 chief executive, said: “Jacqui is a fantastic appointment for us here at Glasgow 2014. Bringing 20 years of international sporting events knowledge and experience to Scotland, Jacqui’s role will be absolutely crucial in ensuring that we remain on track to deliver an outstanding Games in July 2014. Jacqui and her team will be working tirelessly over the next three years to ensure that everyone attending the Games, especially the athletes competing, have a great experience in Glasgow.”
Murdoch, who has already started her role in Glasgow, is excited by the opportunity handed to her.
“Joining Glasgow 2014 is a huge honour for me,” she said.
“Having been involved in the successful preparation and delivery of past Olympic and Commonwealth Games, I am looking forward to getting to work on what I know will be an outstanding Games for Glasgow and Scotland in 2014.”
