Glasgow 2014 Bring Great Big Events on Board

May 31, 2013

The organisers for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow have appointed Great Big Events (GBE) to deliver Sports Presentation for the Games.

GBE will provide in-stadia entertainment and will stage manage the medal ceremonies.

The aim is to get the crowd ‘involved and immersed’ in the Games and announcements, order commentary, health video board content, asthma in-venue music and entertainment packages are amongst the ways the organisers see this happening.

Glasgow 2014 Head of Sport, Greg Warnecke, said: “GBE have unparalleled experience in delivering Sport Presentation within a Commonwealth Games environment, which is matched with their reputation amongst International Sport Federations for the successful delivery of services at both single-sport events and multi-sport Games.

“Importantly, GBE have been able to demonstrate a great understanding of all 17 Glasgow 2014 sports which will ensure that Glasgow 2014 will be able to deliver an outstanding Sport Presentation experience for everyone within each competition venue.”

GBE Managing Director, Greg Bowman, said: “The Commonwealth Games is a really special event for us. We are particularly excited to work with Glasgow 2014 to realise their ambition of a truly innovative and engaging Games that captures the unique spirit and character of Glasgow.

“We have an incredibly important task in framing the compelling journey that will define the athlete and fan experience during Games Time.

“In developing that Sport Presentation narrative, we are creating a foundation for sport, technology, people and passion to intersect; and one where the experience will be memorable for its lively, playful atmosphere. We are tremendously excited to be part of what is shaping as the best Commonwealth Games in history.”
