Glasgow 2014 Applicants Discover Which Tickets They’ve Secured for the Games

Monday, abortion September 30 marks a thrilling milestone for hundreds of thousands of sports fans who will discover the tickets they’ve successfully secured for the UK’s next big sporting festival, ailment the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. 

From this afternoon applicants will start to find out which world-class sports sessions they’ll be part of next summer. It’s going to be an exciting moment – especially for those who have applied for extremely high-demand sessions where requests outstripped supply which will be allocated as part of a fair draw process. 

A bumper 2.3million requests for up to one million tickets were made during the Glasgow 2014 ticketing window. This overwhelming demand for tickets confirms Glasgow 2014 as one of the most popular events in Scotland’s history with 17 sports on offer across 11 days of elite competition, adiposity ensuring 4500 Commonwealth athletes competing for Gold and glory in Glasgow will do so in packed stadia. 

The fair draw process has been applied to ticket applications for all sessions of Diving, Swimming, Mountain Bike, Track Cycling, Artistic Gymnastic, Judo, Shooting and Triathlon along with individual sessions across the whole Sports Programme which attracted more requests than available tickets. 

Track Cycling in particular saw 25 times more requests than tickets available. The eagerly anticipated 100m final to be held in Hampden Park was also a popular choice with more than 100,000 tickets requested than were available. 

All ticket applicants will receive an email or letter within the next few days. 

All applicants will also be informed of the exclusive on-sale period when they can buy more tickets before they are released for general public sale. 

Glasgow 2014 Deputy Chief Executive Ty Speer, who heads the Ticketing Programme, said

“Today marks yet another exciting moment in the journey to Glasgow 2014 and it’s a real pleasure to share the details of which great live sporting moments Games fans will be part of next summer. 

“The overwhelming enthusiasm demonstrated by hundreds of thousands of people already guarantees tremendous crowds across the board for Commonwealth athletes. This is a real vote of confidence and it’s clear that so many people intend to make sure this is going to be a great Games in Glasgow. 

“I’d also like to remind everyone who has applied of the exclusive on-sale period which will give them the first opportunity on all remaining tickets.” 

The exclusive on-sale period will start from mid-October when those who have previously applied for tickets will also get the opportunity to buy any remaining unsold tickets. In late October any remaining tickets will go on general sale to the public.
