Fiskars to Remain Official Net-Cutting Scissors of NCAA Basketball Tournament

March 21, 2012

Fiskars, a global Scissors Brand, has agreed a partnership with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the fourth year in a row to become the official scissors to cut the nets during the 2012 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament.

The iconic Orange-Handled Scissors will be used by winning teams in the post game net-cutting ceremonies for the NCAA Divisions I Men’s and Women’s Basketball regional championship and Final Four games. In addition to the famous Fiskars ergonomic orange handles, the special edition scissors have serrated, gold titanium blades specially etched with the NCAA logo.

Following the championship games, each of the winning institutions will keep one pair of the commemorative scissors for permanent display on campus.

“As Fiskars celebrates the 45th anniversary of our iconic Orange-Handled Scissors this year, we’re honored to once again see the orange handles used as NCAA teams celebrate their success,” said Paul Tonnesen, President, Fiskars Americas. “This year, we’re excited to help basketball fans bring the excitement of the traditional net-cutting ritual home with a chance to win a pair of the commemorative scissors on our Facebook page.”

Fiskars has been recognized for excellence in cutting tools for over 360 years. The Original Orange-Handled Scissors™ from Fiskars are part of the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Fiskars brand scissors are guaranteed for life.
