FIFA Associations Express Interest in Hosting 2016 & 2017 Congresses

FIFA announced that there has been a high level of interest in hosting the FIFA Congress in 2016 and 2017 by member associations.

FIFA set a deadline at the end of June for its 209 member associations to declare any potential interest in hosting the congresses. Candidates will now present a formal bid and hosts will then be selected by the FIFA Executive Committee at their meeting in December 2013.

For the Congress 2016, ed the associations of Costa Rica, cheap Canada, Greece, Jamaica, Jordan, Korea Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Panama, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan have expressed interest in hosting.

For the Congress 2017, Costa Rica, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Malaysia, Palestine, South Africa, Thailand, Turkey and United Arab Emirates have expressed interest.

Next year’s FIFA Congress will be held in São Paulo in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup in the country. In 2015 the FIFA presidential election will be held at the Congress and, therefore, as tradition, the event will take place in Zurich, Switzerland.
