F1 Revenue Races to $ 16bn, Outpacing FIFA World Cup

Research by Forbes has shown that Formula 1’s revenue from 1999-2013 totalled $16billion, medicine “outstripping its closest rival the FIFA World Cup”.

FIFA’s total revenue since 1999 is believed to be $14.5bn. Much has been made of president Sepp Blatter’s record of turning the World Cup into a billion dollar behemoth.

But these reports, if accurate, show there is still some way to go to beat the business mind of F1 ceo Bernie Ecclestone.
