The President of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) believes that his sport would ‘complete’ the Olympic Games programme if they were added to the 2020 event.

President Marco Maria Scolaris is hoping that Sport Climbing is included in the 2020 Olympics ahead of their competitors Karate, vialis 40mg Baseball/Softball, Wushu, Roller Sports, Wrestling, Wakeboarding and Squash.

Scolaris believes that his sport should be included because the basic human movement of climbing is missing from the Olympics, whilst the other sports only offer a replica of what is already in the Games

Speaking exclusively to iSportconnect, Scolaris said: “Climbing is one of the basic human movements, like walking, jumping, swimming and so on. This basic human movement is missing from the Games; it is not represented by a sport in the Olympic Games.

“So if we win the bid then the Games will be complete, whilst other sports are a replica or a development of something that already exists, with all due respect to the other sports bidding.”

The IOC will decide which sport will be added to the 2020 Olympic Games on 7 September in Buenos Aires.
