Exclusive: Hearn Proud to Make Darts the Second Highest Rated Sport on Sky Sports

February 17, 2014

Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Chairman Barry Hearn has said that his proudest achievement was taking Darts from a pub game to the second highest rated sport on Sky Sports.

The exploit was reached through a new structure of the game, the players’ level of excellence and the instrumental role of the partnership between Sky and the PDC.

Speaking exclusively to iSportconnect TV for the BIG Interview, Hearn was proud to announce that Darts is now the second highest rated sport on Sky behind Football, making it a global game.

Hearn said: “Darts is the second highest rated sport on Sky after Premier League Football. This is a hell of a result in something that used to be just played down at your local pub.

“Our job is to create the atmosphere on TV, in order to deliver value for money to sponsors.”

Hearn continued: “We also want the people who come to see live darts tournaments to get value for money and to leave the place with a big smile on their face.

“Darts is a unique atmosphere that brings tens of thousands of people to arenas. I think this is my proudest achievement, or at least the most unlikely.”
