EHF and Infront Continue Digital Strategy

December 1, 2014

The European Handball Federation (EHF) and Infront Sports & Media, abortion its exclusive media and marketing partner for the EHF European Championships, are expanding their digital strategy for the upcoming Women’s EHF EURO 2014.

The official App was launched last week and it offers all relevant information including results, statistics, feature stories as well as live streaming of all matches.

The extended content of the championship across all TV, online, mobile and social media platforms is expected to attract an ever growing presence for the event.

The tournament will be held from 7 to 21 December 2014 in Hungary and Croatia.

The Women’s EHF EURO will be broadcast in 145 countries, after Infront agreed deals with 85 broadcasters.

Streaming of all matches with English commentary will be shown live and on-demand at the EHF TV website and through the official App into all countries where no exclusive media rights agreements are in place.

In addition, handball fans will also be shown clips and daily programme teasers together with special highlights on the championship’s official YouTube Channel.

Continuous fan interaction has been fostered even further through the tournament’s social media channels, across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

The re-launched official championship website will provide handball fans with comprehensive event information, including live blogging throughout the tournament.

Jean Brihault, EHF President, said: “The EHF EURO events are hugely attractive events, and rightly so given that they bring together the very best players and top national teams from our sport.

“Hungary and Croatia are two countries, which both have a long and successful handball tradition. We are extremely confident that EHF EURO 2014 will once again deliver an exciting spectacle for those following the action in the arenas, on TV and across all of our digital channels.”

Stephan Herth, Executive Director Summer Sports at Infront, added: “The EHF EUROs are continuously on the rise in terms of television exposure, whilst we enable the fans to follow the championship via an ever increasing number of media channels.

“Our ongoing digital efforts have multiplied touch points for fans with the sport and its official sponsors. The long-term support of many brands – some dedicated handball partners since the 90s – is living proof of the appeal and growing value of the EHF platform.”
