EFL Agrees Goal-Line Technology

February 17, 2017

The English Football League (EFL) has agreed in principle to introduce goal-line technology in next season’s Championship campaign.

The Premier League started used goal-line technology in 2013, and recently the technology has been extended to Championship play-off games and the latter stages of domestic cups.

The technology, which informs a referee via a watch alert if the ball has crossed the goal-line, is already used in many of the world’s premier footballing competitions: including Serie A, the Champions League and World Cup.

The EFL clubs agreed the deal yesterday, and it will be put before them again in June for a final vote.
