Edward Glazer to Sell His Three Million Manchester United Shares

December 9, 2014

Manchester United have confirmed part-owner Edward Glazer has put three million of his shares in the club up for sale.

The sale could potentially be concluded by the end of the week with Glazer set to recoup over £25 million.

Edward’s father Malcom Glazer took over the club in 2005 but following his death in May 2014, Edward was handed an equal share of the club along with five members of his family.

A Manchester United statement read: “Manchester United plc today announced the offering of 3,000,000 of its Class A Ordinary Shares by the Edward S. Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Trust (the ‘Selling Shareholder’).

“The underwriter will have an option to purchase up to an additional 450,000 Class A Ordinary Shares from the Selling Shareholder.

“Manchester United will not receive any proceeds from the sale of any Class A Ordinary Shares by the Selling Shareholder.

“The offering is expected to close on 12 December 2014, subject to customary closing conditions.”

Edward Glazer is also currently the co-chairman of National Football League (NFL) franchise the Tampa Bay Bucaneers and co-president of the Glazer Family Foundation.
