Overview:

Under the leadership of the General Manager and President of Basketball Operations, the Director of Player Engagement will be responsible for organizing and amplifying Basketball Operations Community and Social Responsibility platforms with a focus on enhancing our connection to, and role within the Greater Atlanta Community. This position will work as a liaison between Basketball and Business Operations to ensure philosophically aligned, and coordinated, player engagement.

Duties:

  • – Build and maintain day-to-day relationships with Hawks players, Basketball and Business Operations staff
  • – Organizational point of contact for all player and BBOPS (Basketball Operations) staff appearance requests
  • – Establish player utilization priorities with Hawks CEO, Head Coach / President of Basketball Operations and General Manager; these priorities will guide PAC (Player Appearance Committee) decision-making
  • – Establish and lead weekly PAC meetings, consisting of departmental points of contact (PR, CSR, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Ticket Sales, Basketball Operations) to coordinate strategic goals, departmental priorities and appearance scheduling
  • – Establish Basketball Operations CSR (community and social responsibility) priorities, goals and objectives
  • – Responsible for ensuring the philosophical alignment between Basketball and Business Operations, and applying this philosophy in PAC decision-making
  • – Advance organizational communication and improve consistency throughout internal departments regarding staff and player appearances
  • – Strategically leverage our organizational resources to advance our Basketball and Business goals with player engagement
  • – Support, communicate and attend all BBOPS appearances
  • – Collaborate with Hawks player(s) and agent(s) (as needed) regarding non-hawks related; business ventures, charitable foundations and other personal requests
  • – Establish Lady Hawks Foundation and support fundraising efforts
  • – Main contact responsible for NBA PATS reporting
  • – Responsible for master calendar management

Qualifications:

  • – Must be available to work game nights (41 home games, plus pre-season and playoffs)
  • – Some travel (playoff/special event travel) may be necessary
  • – Bachelor’s degree, masters preferred
  • – Ideal candidate will have 8 years related experience, specifically community relations
  • – Excellent sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality a must
  • – Detail-minded; follow-through, thoroughness, and organization of time and work of prime importance
  • – Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • – Ability to work with a variety of individuals and not be intimidated by strong personalities
  • – Ability to work with internal and external clients with a positive customer service-oriented attitude
