Content Manager – British Rowing

Overview:

To lead the content management plan for British Rowing across all of our channels and support the wider communications and marketing deployment plan.

Responsibilities

  • Proof reading and editing content to ensure consistency in terms of style, no rx quality and tone of voice.
  • Ensure content is optimised for search and user experience for all channels including online, medicine social media, email, mobile, video, print and in-person.
  • Map out a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both in the short and long-term.
  • Work with content owners across the organisation to revise and measure particular content and marketing goals to meet the business objectives and ensure consistency across content.
  • Support all teams across the organisation by producing relevant and timely content.
  • Be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, punctuation, messaging, writing and style.
  • Develop standards, systems and best practices for content creation, distribution, content retrieval and content repurposing.
  • Conduct periodic competitive audits.
  • Work closely with the Graphic Design & Brand Executive on all creative and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent message and look and feel across all content and channels.
  • Present a positive image of British Rowing (including its committees, volunteers and staff) and the sport of rowing at all times.
  • Be a team player and at all times consider how the role can support the strategic objectives of British Rowing.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Outstanding command of the English language.
  • Experience with creating compelling messages for different target audiences.
  • Proven editorial/writing skills.
  • Excellent proof reading and editing skills.
  • Clear understanding of what makes a compelling story and experience of how to tell a story using words, images, or audio.
  • Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics.
  • Experience creating content for the web and growing a social audience.
  • At least (3) years’ experience in content management/communications.
  • Persuading and influencing skills.

Desirable

  • Interest in and knowledge of rowing.
  • Experience of working within the sports industry.
  • Photographic / Videographic skills.
  • Media relations/PR.

Additional Information

Standard working hours are 9:00 to 17:00 although flexibility is required in order to ensure core objectives are achieved. National travel may be required.
