Overview:
Purpose
- To support the organization in developing policies, procedures, guidelines, infrastructures, systems and processes which will ensure the organisation is able to meet both its statutory and regulatory requirements.
- To help co-ordinate the management infrastructure to support external compliance requirements currently to ISO 14001, & BS 18001 respectively.
- To support the development of internal compliance monitoring processes and be a core member of the internal inspection and spot check auditing team.
Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the post are to:-
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
- Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues.
- Assess product, compliance or operational risks and develop risk management strategies.
- Conduct audits to ensure adherence to relevant standards.
- Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
- Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
- File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate testing procedures to meet specifications typically in relation to Health and Safety Fire, Food & Environmental programmes.
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes.
- Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees.
- Advise internal management on the implementation or operation of compliance programs.
- Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews.
- Prepare management reports regarding compliance operations and progress.
- Monitor compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness.
- Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes.
- Design or implement improvements in communication, monitoring or enforcement of compliance standards.
- Verify that all company and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented and communicated.
- Advise technical professionals on the development or use of key statutory compliance or reporting tools.
- Develop or implement compliance plans.
- Review or modify policies or operating guidelines to comply with changes to standards or legislation.
Experience
The successful candidate should ideally be able to demonstrate:
- Relevant experience in Compliance Management preferably in a multi-disciplined business.
- Be organised and methodical.
- Knowledge of working in a high volume environment.
- A commitment to driving forwards continuous improvement in their working environment.
- Excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment, self-motivation, enthusiasm and the ability to work under pressure.
- A practical approach to problem solving.
