Canterbury Extends Vodafone Warriors Partnership

October 3, 2014

Canterbury of New Zealand has renewed its partnership with the Vodafone Warriors to nine seasons after signing a new three-year term to the end of the 2017 NRL season.

The deal ensures the company will have the special distinction of its iconic CCC logo appearing on the club’s kit in both its debut season in 1995 and its landmark 20th anniversary campaign in 2015.

The first six years of Canterbury of New Zealand’s current term as official apparel sponsor has coincided with Vodafone Warriors dominating team kit sales across the NRL.

“Our partnership with Canterbury of New Zealand has been a fantastic success on every level,” said Vodafone Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah.

“They’ve set the standard with our designs and have made our jerseys the most popular by far not just in the NRL but among all sports in Australasia.”

Since 2009 Vodafone Warriors jerseys have sold in exceptional numbers, none more so than the ‘Te Toki Pounamu’ design in 2012. The special greenstone heritage jersey highlighted Canterbury’s technical capabilities and promoted the Vodafone Warriors brand to a worldwide audience.

Canterbury of New Zealand chief operating officer Jason Law said the success of the sponsorship included taking the players’ thoughts on board.

“We’re extremely pleased to re-sign with the Vodafone Warriors as their official apparel sponsor,” he said.

“The last six years we have worked hard and we’ve also had a lot of fun along the way working with Wayne and his management team as well as taking on board the players’ insights in developing and designing the club’s apparel.

“As a business and as passionate fans it’s fantastic to know we’ve extended our relationship through to the end of 2017.”
