Big Cola Sign Commercial Partnership with English FA for National Team and FA Cup

June 24, 2011

Soft drink manufacturer AJE Big Cola has announced that it has signed a new two-year commercial partnership with the Football Association (FA) in England, covering the country’s premier knock-out cup competition, the FA Cup, and the England national team.

Big Cola were already a promotional partner to the England national team in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, Laos and Cambodia, but the new deal, brokered by Total Sports Asia, enables Big Cola to also become a promotional partner to the FA Cup in these territories. The new two-year deal comes after the success of Big Cola’s initial one-year agreement with the FA at the beginning of last season.

The FA recently signed up American brand Budweiser as the title sponsor of the FA Cup and Sean McAuliffe, the FA’s group head of business development, said that the new Big Cola deal would provide additional help to “strengthen…brand presence outside the United Kingdom”.

McAuliffe added: “Asia is a growing market for us and working on partnerships with brands like Big Cola increases our presence in the region and is a great avenue for our Asian fans to support the team.” Big Cola recently launched their FA Cup promotion in several Asian markets with the promotional partnership period running through until the end of 2012. The promotion involving the England team will start towards the end of 2011.

Jorge Lopez Doriga, Big Cola chief marketing executive, said: “After a positive response from our Thai customers to the special England National Team promotional packs in 2010 – that led to a 20% increase in sales – Big Cola will continue to bring happiness and excitement to all the football fans across the six countries.”
