Baku to Host 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games

Baku has been awarded the rights to host the fourth Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in 2017.

The decision was made at the 8th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) in Jeddah, see Saudi Arabia.

The decision means Baku will host another sporting event, viagra sale having already secured the 2015 European Games, and the Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Azerbaijan said this was a crucial period for the city.

Dr. Chingiz Huseynzada said: “This is the beginning of a highly important period for the sporting culture of our nation. After our success in securing the 2015 European Games, the hosting of the 4th ISG in 2017 will make another important contribution to our standing both in the Muslim and international communities.

“We are a strong Islamic nation and are committed to helping and inspiring our friends around the world.”

The NOC of Azerbaijan selected sports and entertainment agency Impact34 to help deliver the bid strategy and candidature file to ISSF.

Bettina Kuperman, CEO of Impact34, stated: “We are so delighted that the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan and Baku secured this prominent and meaningful event. We strongly believe in Baku’s vision for the games, which is: Solidarity is our strength.

“The compact venue plan, which is also being built for the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku, shows how the nation is determined to develop sports in the coming years.”

In addition to the awarding of the 2017 ISG to Baku, Dr. Chingiz Huseynzada was re-elected Vice-President of the ISSF for the next four years.

Additionally, a landmark decision concerning the ISSF was made when Konul Nurullayeva, became the first woman ever elected to the executive committee of the ISSF.
